The Day-sies

I was on Amazon recently looking for where to start on a Jesse Johnson collection (the only cd in print is the Ultimate Collection mad ). Anyway there was this reviewer who started talking about Morris Day as well and mentiond he had a girl band called the Day-sies. Now i'm a big fan of Morris's and i thought Color Of Succes was the shit but i've never heard he had any proteges. Could somebody clear this up.

The Day-Z's was a girl group produced by Morris and released on Reprise Records in 1990. Personnel was as follows:

Cheri Wells (formerly of the Mary Jane Girls) - Lead and background vocals
Kelli Gurman - Keyboards, bass synth, background vocals
Tiffanie Smith - Drums, background vocals
Shari Bender - Percussion, background vocals
Cecilia Worrall - Sax, keys, background vocals

The album was actually pretty alright with the highlights being the opening track "Average Girlz" and the extremely funky "Sunny Dayz". "Green Acres" is hot as hell too AND has Morris on guest vocals.

There used to be a ton of these out there in used bins, do yourself a favor and buy one. Plus Morris LOVES talking about this project.

Man that album sounded out of date at the time! I thought it shoulda been a Newjack record, then it woulda been a sucsess, Morris was still dragging the minni sound on that album! Plus the lead vocalist is horrible! The songs may be alright, but the singing is not!!!

The anthemic last track though, I think it is called "today", is good though.....very epic sounding!
