Morris day's "guaranteed"

Anyone own this album?

If u like the NewJackSwing, then this is a good buy.....though I admit that he dis not have anywhere near the input he had on his other 2 solo's!

title track
"angel don't" (with Big daddy kane)
"deeper"
"meant to be together"
"who's that girl" (my fav.....good funky Newjack/pop)

All the above r slammin NewJackish tracks.....very heavy on the dink donky drum programming!

"Everlasting" is a nice typical early 90's ballad too.....nice words!

I guess album bombed right? I woulda chosen "deeper" a a lead single, or maybe "angel don't"....premise 4 these videos r good!

What singles did they choose again?

I remember seeing the video for the first single "Gimme All You Got" (or something like that) and I was so disappointed. It sounded so formulaic.I didn't buy the album.

Rhastus

Its the worst thing Morris ever did, but it has a few decent tracks. He tried to change his style and it didn't work

I thought "Guaranteed" was supposed to mean it was good. I found out it was guaranteed to suck, so I returned it. giggle

Seriously, I bought it on vinyl a while back and maybe listened to it once then never put it on the turntable again. Just not too impressed. I sold it a while later.

Album very much of it's time.....no Morris humour though really on this album, but as I said, if u like New jack Swing, then look 4 it? (when I say New jack swing, I mean, in this case, that tracks sound like Michael Jacksons "dangerous" album- the first half of "dangerous" that is biggrin .....)

Let's face it,guys...Morris is talented but he only sounds good when he's produced by Prince.None of his solo albums can top the albums by the Time.

that certainly ain't rue to me! I love his first 2 solo's and to me, being a newjack fan, I like some of his 3rd album too!

I honestly think Morris deserves way more props 4 his first 2 very solid and good all the way throgh first 2 albums! No filler on both! And "Oak tree" is better then "jungle love" in my opinion!

I have Morris' first two solo albums---'The Color Of Success'(1985) and 'Daydreaming'(1988)---and while there a few good songs on each album,I find much of it very disappointing. There are simply too many synthesizers on these albums! And the songs tend to sound alike. He was wise to bring in Jam and Lewis for the second album. Not surprisingly, that albums' best songs are the J&L contributions--- "Fishnet" and "Love Is A Game".

I love those synths.....and I love "fishnet" and the surprisenly soulful "love is a game".....the latter deserved to be bigger then it was!

That was a very unflattering picture of him on the album cover, you could see every blemish of his skin up close in full detail.

I havent listened to that album since about 92, but I do recall the title track being decent. It just wasn't as fun and crazy as his earlier stuff.

U gotta give him credit 4 trying 2 do something other than the MPLS sound, but Morris and New Jack Swing were not not a good mix.

Yes.His strength is in old school funk and old school soul. He needs to get back to that. His other attempts have failed. And it's sad in ,but I don't know that the public would know what to do with a Morris that played it perfectly straight ,ya' know? And then,he is also too old now to be too silly.

To me, a track like "deeper" is very funky New jack! The newjack tracks, to me sound like Michael Jackson's "dagerous" outtakes production wise, which is great! biggrin
