The crowd was still chanting his name late into the concert while other acts were performing (Teena Marie and Frankie B & Maze)!! Bottom line...he is awesome...especially live!!! The Funk -Jesse Johnson's Revue -Shcckadelica -Every Shade of Love Pure Rock -Bare My Naked Soul GGD  But, the label probably wanted him to play it safe on his debut and bury the leads so he could get "black" airplay, which is bullshit! Trust me when I say I know how it is. I've been there and still there trying to figure out a way to get from there. I probably know how it is for a brother doing rock in the industry more than some. BG, let me ask again: at the JJ concert at the Roxy, were you in the front yelling "Where'd you get that axe?" I was at a JJ concert there back in the day and remember a guitar-playing brother asking that and bagging on Keith Sweat's nasal singing. Was that you? | |

BG, let me ask again: at the JJ concert at the Roxy, were you in the front yelling "Where'd you get that axe?" I was at a JJ concert there back in the day and remember a guitar-playing brother asking that and bagging on Keith Sweat's nasal singing. Was that you? Nah, I was close to the front but I wasn't bagging on Keith's vocals. I was in the front at The Troubadour in 94 when Jessie had short dreadlocks and had gotten chubby. I yelled "play some Hendrix" and he said 'Hendrix? Who's that?" That's where he gave me a guitar pick. I also saw him live at The Palace in 88. He tore it up that night.
