Jesse is an complete artist!!!
I think you'll be surprised at how good his stuff really is. The guitar work on the
funk is just enough to spice things up yet hints at why he belonged in Prince's
camp. The Music/production style is definitely true to the Minneapolis Sound!!!! He does
showcase his "axwork" a little more each time and goes fullblow rock on Bare My Naked Soul.
I first noticed him on the Triple Threat Tour(1999), I had no idea who he was but walked away saying,
"The Time's guitarist is bad as hell"!!! I later got to see him on his '85 tour...He Rock ed the house liked nobody's business!!!! He did Jungle Love...the crowd went crazy! The crowd was still chanting his name late into the concert while other acts were performing (Teena Marie and Frankie B & Maze)!!
Bottom line...he is awesome...especially live!!!

The Funk
-Jesse Johnson's Revue
-Shcckadelica
-Every Shade of Love

Pure Rock
-Bare My Naked Soul

But, the label probably wanted him to play it safe on his debut and bury the leads so he could get "black" airplay, which is bullshit! But that's a whole different topic.

Hey it's bullshit. But thats just the way it is. Fortuanately, his gamble worked and his music talents got recognised.

Who you telling? Trust me when I say I know how it is. I've been there and still there trying to figure out a way to get from there. I probably know how it is for a brother doing rock in the industry more than some. Like I said, been there and still there. Advice though for those who aren't sleep: Don't sleep on Christopher CoShea just yet!

BG, let me ask again: at the JJ concert at the Roxy, were you in the front yelling "Where'd you get that axe?" I was at a JJ concert there back in the day and remember a guitar-playing brother asking that and bagging on Keith Sweat's nasal singing. Was that you?

I do not know if this was mentioned, but after da krash, Jesse turned that group into a NewJack outfit called "Kool School", lead singer was different too!

Die hard newjacks rate "my girl" (12") as one of the best in Newjack cannon!

Nah, I was close to the front but I wasn't bagging on Keith's vocals. I was in the front at The Troubadour in 94 when Jessie had short dreadlocks and had gotten chubby. I yelled "play some Hendrix" and he said 'Hendrix? Who's that?" That's where he gave me a guitar pick. I also saw him live at The Palace in 88. He tore it up that night.

I guess Jessie was trying to be funny saying "Hendrix? Who's that?"
