I had it on cassette also and loved it all the way through. My cassette got tangled up in the player. Now I can't find the album anywhere. I do have the 45s of "Sex Appeal" and "Tina Cherry" though.

Yeah, I think my cassette was also a victim of my (back in those days) car's tape player.

I found this Ebay listing for the album on CD: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...34938&rd=1. smile

I remember reading an article where he mentioned that he and Prince met and he asked him if he could work with him and Prince gave him the cold shoulder. Funny but the dude did actually look like Prince and also mimicked his dancing a lot.

Okay this thread got me wondering about Georgio so I did a little searching and evidently he is now a director/actor who did a movie in 2001 called "Tapped Out". Here's the link to the IMdB listing: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0250023/

Also, here is a short bio of him from someplace else (I cant remember where):

"Raised in Minneapolis, Georgio plays a variety of instruments and is something of an imitation of Prince, one of his musical influences. In the mid '80s, he scored with funk-styled dance cuts such as "Tina Cherry" and "Lover's Lane." Exotically handsome looks assured him female admiration, but his inflated ego and verbal attacks on the artistry of Prince and Michael Jackson turned disc jockeys off."

I didn't know he was from Minneapolis.

I couldn't find much about him on the internet but what I *did* find always gave his year of birth as 1966. The IMdB says he was born in 1970. Either the person who did that IMdB bio is mistaken, or Georgio's tryin to shave a few years off his age. wink

Otay that's all I know about Georgio.

Georgio almost became a Prince protege. In the mid-80s,his demo tape made it's way to Prince's newly formed Paisley Park Records. The plan was for Prince and BrownMark to produce his debut album, but this didn't sit well with Georgio, who was capable of writing and producing his own material."They wanted to use my songs and take all the credit for writing them",he said in a 1987 issue of Black Beat magazine."Now I understand how Prince's thing works. He finds people who would do anything to become a star.I'm not one of those people".

His music was one dimensional. all plastic funk crap with some ballads. He could've never written a Mountains or 3 Chains of Gold.

Oh I guess that why he's in the "where R They Now" group.

I remember coming home from college and my mom and I saw Georgio on BET he said that he wouldn't work with Prince in the studio but he wouldn't mind playing live with him on stage. But he doubts Prince would allow him because he would upstage Prince.

I remember thinking to myself YEAH RIGHT, UPSTAGE MY arse. But I didn't say it because my mom was there. Then out of no where my mom says, " Prince would perform his arse under the stage.

I died laughing.

This thread brought back some crazy thoughts of the 80's! My girls name is Tina and she plays a cherry game! I wonder if I still have the cassette. He was really skinny and wore tight bicker shorts! All my girls had a crush on him.
