BILLBOARD LINK ABOUT PRINCE JUMPING 289% BACK INTO TOP TEN

http://www.billboard.com/...1000581567

Following a three-night stint at New York's Madison Square Garden, sales of Prince's "Musicology" soared 289% to 74,000 copies. The NPG/Columbia artist's strategy of including a copy of the set with each concert ticket sparks a 64-8 jump to return to the top 10 of The Billboard 200 this week.

MUSICOLOGY WEEKLY SCANS

Week One – 191,000
Week Two – 173,000
Week Three – 150,000
Week Four – 76,637
Week Five – 42,000
Week Six - 71,000
Week Seven – 93,000
Week Eight – 75,363
Week Nine – 81,261
Week Ten – 92,000
Week Eleven – 55,739
Week Twelve– 25,000
Week Thirteen – 74,000

Total – 1,200,000 registered copies (based on actual figures and educated guesses where no figures were available, such as when Musicology dropped from the top ten). What a surprise to discover that even at #65, Musicology still sold 25,000 that week, which was I believe more than sold for the album N.E.W.S. - period.

Man I bet some of the industry are just so pissed that Prince found a way to buck the system. All those whiners who have made Billboard and Soundscan change their method did so out of spite.

Ha ha ha Prince ROCKS

From USA Today
Prince, back on the road where freebie copies of his Musicology copies are included in SoundScan counts, rises to No. 8 with 74,000, up from No. 64 and 19,000 last week.
