chat room is clunky is it me or do i have my chat room settings wrong? why doesn't the chat room move in real time like say MSN Messenger? you know the messages pop up on the screen automatically when the other person you are writing to types on the other end.
i always get lost with the conversion cuz it moves too slow. should the Org update their chat room facility? we can't have NPGMC doing a better job than the Org. anyone?

there used to be a real-time chatroom here, but people didn't like it... no one ever went into it.
often, there were/are too many people in the room to keep track of what everyone was saying, when messages popped up on their own without doing it manually. most people seem to prefer the setup of this one, once they get the hang of it. the conversation goes as fast or slow as you want it to, under the current system

I agree but the NPGMC is a commercial site with money to burn. Prince.org is a free, homemade site with no money whatsoever If someone can recommend a good free chat system for the Org to use, by all means let us know. Or if someone has the time to write one for us, by all means let us know.

Wanted to add one other thing to AaronMaximus's excellent explanation.
It also helps with those who do not have English as their first language... they can adjust the refresh rates to their liking - or just click when they are ready for more translating. I personally have never seen a better chat system, considering everything Ian outlined above.
