Wrong forum--Site Discussion is more appropriate for this question, then ian will come and lock the thread down and give you an explanation.

Ok, based on seeing this question a zillion times, this is what Ian will most likely tell you:
If you have a complaint/question of this nature, orgnote him, don't start a thread about it, it's inflammatory Mods don't have to explain why they do something like lock a thread, they have ultimate authority. The mods voluntarily put in a million hours on maintaining and running the site, and don't need any more hassles. The particular thread that was locked either had people complaining about it (report msg to moderator button clicked) or was probably starting to get out of hand in flaming or baiting behaviors. Our site rules state quite clearly: if you have a concern or a question about a moderation decision, you may take the matter up with the moderator concerned IN PRIVATE. I remain available should you wish to discuss something liberation.
We don't have the time to explain each and every moderation decision we make, but I generally try to answer any question but directly to me. Ultimately of course "moderation decisions are final". You won't always agree with the decisions we make, we can't please everyone all of the time etc. | |
