Again, it is just a tool for moderators and none of it is written in stone. You might have old strikes hanging on your account, but moderators take that into consideration when adding further notes and strikes on your account.
To answer Aaron's points: - They hang around indefinitely. They can be cleared and removed of course, if they are suitably old but that doesn't happen automatically and nor should it because sometimes the history is relevant. However moderators will not boot you for an offence you committed years ago - The strike system is just a means for the moderators to compare notes on people who repeatedly abuse the facilities of the site. It isn't an authoritative or accurate criminal system - Wherever possible we always try to inform people of a strike being added to their account.
