I wish the .org had a chat room as cool as the new one in the NPGMC's site...

I have made it no secret that the delay/update format of the current one in use here is weak...

Now, I know, the first thing that comes to mind is that this is a free site, and we should be so lucky to even have a format to post on and generally be so crazy. I agree. We are lucky to have such a wonderful "home" as the .Org.

But... could ya at least check it out? NPGMC, in the "conference" room. It's pretty nice.

The NPGMC chat site is as quick as lightning. A little too quick for my liking. Within seconds of entering your comment, it disappears out of site. I now appreciate the Org's chatroom much more. Perhaps it will be okay after the initial mad rush of users has died down, but for now - give me the Org's chat anyday.

It's a nice chatroom... it's definitely closer to what I wanted for the Org. Of course though, NPGMC have just bought / licensed an off-the-shelf chat system. The Org on the other hand has no money so we rely on either free stuff or stuff we (i.e. Ben) has the time to write.

Also, I think if you are paying $25 you expect a better quality of chatroom Of course it's not about the software but the quality of the sparkling wit and conversation right... haha.

Personally I think it'd be great if we moved to something like that, but everytime I mention it Aaron starts frothing at the mouth and shouting incomprehensibly... I guess some people like the current chat interface.

Both chatrooms have their pros and cons.

I like the org chat, once you get it, it works flawlessly.

As for the NPGMC Chatroom, they really need to increase the viewable area to at LEAST 25 lines, so that when the room is full, you have more time to read the messages of other members. As it is currently, the messages get lost up past the tiny screen, and it's very hard to keep up.

I think The NPGMC chatroom sucks. I think it would be a good idea to post what time a new subject is added so I can participate when the are actually talking about the subject. I have never been to the org's chatroom. When I post something on the boards, it is so fast, to me, it's like chatting.

cough up the $25 .. and i'm sure it can be arranged

If everyone who is a member of the Org posts me a cheque for $25, I'll personally ensure we have the best chat system in the universe
