I don't see how Prince could be sued over Judith' breach of contract. Whether he knew of her contract or didn't, I'm no lawyer but it seems to me that SHE breached her own contract. P might be sued for releasing a recording of an artist that was under contract with someone else, though. Whatever happens next this might mean that the album will never see a proper release (the release we got quelifies as a promo release) and that P will have plenty more bad things to say about the music industry and its CONtracts

yeah,I don't see how Prince could get sued.Judith is the one who breached her own contract.She signed a contract,then chose to work with Prince instead.

If there was a contract, Prince is screwed and likely very liable for tortuous interference.

To be fair, if she hasnt already recorded these songs under her current deal, and it being released for free, not charged for on a label then he hasnt really done anything but provide promotion for her.

Maybe its all part of the promotion? And not real?

Yet he still does not comprehend WHO has kept him in the muSIC biz for 36 years.

Con-tro-versy. I think it was a mistake for Cherry to sue Prince. It's going to bring into light some of their business practices. The Voice and American Idol contestants are allegedly forced to sign terrible deals to compete on the show.

THey're suing Prince because he's the one with money.

In Prince's mind, it's for free so yes he can.

The only reason that record company is suing is that now they have to at least match Prince's production.

Instead of defensively suing Prince, they should capitalize on his endorsement and do their thing.

Prince is finally getting a taste of his own medicine, since he's well known for threatening to sue anyone that even thinks of using his songs or likeness, including fans.

My thoughts exactly. I'm no lawyer, but if Prince and Judith Hill did not sign a contract with each other that formalizes their working relationship, then how could Prince be sued: no money was exchanged, the album was given away for free via a Live Nation e-mail to download? Either way, it seems like poetic justice that Prince is getting sued for interfering with another entity's intellectual property when he has sued people for less. fDeluxe and Original 7ven have an interesting vantage point watching this story develop with relations to what they went through.

After suing moms for youtube videos, his own fans over the years (including Facebook fans last year), and harassing the org, God does Prince ever deserve this.

If the story is true, Hill was warned a month prior, correct? So, they knew this would be a threat. Prince really is a real dick sometimes.

Remember, the mini press conference Prince called with the Minneapolis press? He asked the fastest method to release the new album. He then released it less than 24 hours after that. He probably believed there was some loophole in the C&D they received.

Again, suing Prince is going to end badly for The Voice. They are going to lose credibility when their contract which Judith Hill comes to light.
