BASICALLY THIS SITE HAS HAD ITS DAY FOR YEARS NOW!!!

I understand that they wanted to keep the show under wraps, that's fair enough as they don't want hundreds of people turning up without tickets. But not being able to talk about a Prince show after it's happened, well that's just ludicrous. RIP

And yet news of the Koko gig was all over Facebook, where people predominately go now anyway now for news!! I for one dont come on here anymore for news I go straight to Facebook!!

i just dont want to see this site come under pressure not to post things in the future. Its not fair for the people running this site , or the real fans.

even dr funkenberry is reporting on it now, so im sure prince is fine with it

If this site is constantly under pressure to post news and other stuff, then why is it even existing anymore?? It started out as a NEWS site and now it cant post news?? WTF is that??

well it sounds like this charity, is bigger than i thought. And has influence. Which is not good. The big people trying to keep the little people in check

This been insteresting to see unfold.
I'll definetely remember "some people's" behaviour next time I'm asked for a favour, or given some red-hot news or info.

i know someone who runs a small charity just in the yorkshire region. He works full time , and lives in a council house. They dont take a penny out of the pot for themselves. You dont go around demanding this and that, if you are running a genuine small charity. The bigger charities pay people lots of money to run them. Its a joke. And a very grey area! This autism charity seems like its running for the rich and famous , and protecting them, when they should be concentrating on more important issues.

Its not the founders of the site's fault. Does Ben and company have anything to do with it anymore? SNIP Living in fear of being shut down by Prince due to the content posted is ridiculous. The last time I checked, reporting news and comment is a fundamental freedom in the West. Is this website based in Egypt? Is it based in Iran or North Korea? No. It is based in the US. Even though this gig was meant to be a secret, the fact that the secret leaked makes it worthy of reporting. Even if you use your morality radar you will see there is no negative consequence for reporting it because, afterall, the gig was TO RAISE AWARENESS!!!

Yeah, it's this sort of stuff that REALLY makes me question charities most of the time. I mean, I have aspergers and know people who suffer with it much more than I do, and will THEY see any 'awareness' or positive change in the way people view autism because of Autism Rocks? Probably not. To me, these sorts of 'VIP' gigs organised by charities for celebrities seem pretty shitty in the sense that what 'awareness' goes on stays in the sweaty, chamber of whatever venue it was staged at. I don't blame Prince for the censoring of this topic, he just complied with the charities wishes.

Totally silly to not have a thread active while the concert is ongoing or remove it soon afterwards.
It. happened. It will be reported on mainstream media sites.
The twitchiness beforehand was understandable as it was supposed to be a charity/industry insider type affair only.
But now? Apply some common sense and rational thinking please. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Perhaps it is time that Prine.org is used primarily for more in-depth discussion of issues e.g. Direction of 3EG or detailed discussion of albums etc whilst other source focus on the 'news' aspects. There are a number of sites reported last nights concert and, of course, Prince Army and Purple Stream are there.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That's good in principle but what if you wanted to use the latest concert setlist and observations of stage presence, musicianship of 3EG to feed into that discussion?
To use this latest nervousness as an example, your comments might get snipped Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Yes, i think you have a point. It seems that this concert may simply be an exception due to the charity's requests. I haven't heard of a lot of other information being supressed (Although I wouldn't hear, would I!) so hopefully any other concerts, appearances would be fully reported. I do understand the difficulty ehrn it is simply rumour but this is now being widely reported in national newspapers. Although had I received an invite by email I am fairly sure I wouldn't have told a living soul!

Waiting for an official response from the org on why and how hey did this (i.e. shoot a hot and current news item on Prince completely out of the water) - because as it is, their attempts to shut this up really make them lose their credibilty.

there was nothing wrong with wanting to talk about the show, it was not a compete secret, already been put out there. What you gonna do, start censoring about what you see? It was a bloody concert! i respect this site, what would we do without it? I think respect was shown before the concert was played. But then they starting deleting threads on it even after it had taken place. And its like "wait a minute" . You are allowed to discuss things in the uk arent you? I think, like alot of people, it was going too far. It was for charity for gods sake, unless there is something underhanded going on, what is really the problem?

It was a semi-private event where they graciously allowed some fans to purchase tickets on the proviso that a certain level of secrecy was maintained. Some threads appeared here about the event and we were asked to remove them. That's what they wanted and we saw no reason to be antagonistic about it, so we complied. |
