WYSIWYG editing - issues with paragraphs

The other thread is locked. This has been happening for a few years, but I just lived with it, but I figure I'll report it now.

The issue is, I can't make paragraphs. I type in paragraphs, like I'm doing right now, and no matter what I do, they don't show up on the post. The paragraph spacing gets deleted.

I'm going to screenshot this post from the editor, as I typed it, so you can see what I mean. I've tried in different browsers, so it must be an issue with the site. But it doesn't seem to be affecting other people, which is very strange. I've checked the HTML, and the <p> tags are present in my post. But when I go to post, they disappear. It's frustrating, as it prevents me from writing too much, because all my posts end up as a giant wall of text.

Here we go:

hold shift while hitting enter (shift+enter) and this will cause the editor to send the line feed properly.

Another thing you can do is type your post in a text editor (Notepad, Akelpad, etc) and paste it instead. If you're doing a big post with a lot of line feeds, I'd recommend that. Also, you have the benefit of having the text "backed up" for the moment in case there is an error in posting or accidently hitting extra buttons on a mouse, etc. (I've lost lots of long posts because of my fat fingers)

The worst bug for me, at the moment, is how a Google search on the site within Firefox causes a script loop for some reason. Totally locks up the browser. Does not show up in IE.

Alright, let's try that.

This is a new paragraph.

This is another new paragraph.

This is a third new paragraph.

Now I will post this reply.

Thanks for the response, Dauphin.

I'll leave this thread open re the Google search / Firefox compatibility issue you have raised.

No problem, gents.

I have a couple of old posts on the Google search thing. More details there. I'd link, but I think the post linking bug is still around too. smile
