Since I get no real answers -for various reasons- about the rules w.r.t. linking to, embedding from or even mentioning stuff on certrain persons' failbook pages, official videos, and similar sites I do ask again:

What are the rules?

Please specify in simple and plain english so we can understand and maybe discuss.

So this place starts looking like a joke when it comes to rules.

On one side we have the strict copyright-related stuff yet on the other side there's perhaps confusion when official sources publish materials.

When drfunkenberry posts stuff, it is ok to post the link to drfunkenberry's page. Drfunkenberry has the purple seal of approval to post prince vids and associated artists on his site. If drfunkenberry posts Prince or Associated Artists vids, just post drfunkenberry page link. Folks can then go to drfunkenberry's link and view the vid. Posting of the vid itself on the org is not allowed.

I.e.: official failbook channels of e.g. Andy et al cannot be linked to?!

I.e.: official youtube channels of e.g. Andy et al cannot be linked to?! (link to channel, embed video, etc; please clarify)

Can we mention the person's channels in clear text? (`XYZ's failbook has a hot new video!`)

Can we post the url to the channel without referencing any video directly? (see http://failbook.com/user/XYZ)

Stuff of that type was unanaswered and is quite important as bans were administered because of that stuff.

It's quite appalling that simple questions on the core business of this site take so very long to get answers although quite predictably the answers choose to follow the weakest, 'safest' option possible, ignoring technical reality. (see the Andy case which had stuff up for weeks which was finally taken down; any direct links on the org would have stopped functioning at the same time)

Where a third party has posted Prince-related material e.g. an audio or video recording, the org chooses to tread very carefully.

If it is clear that the material has received some form of official approval for publication, then the rules permit for a link to be posted, or reference to be made to where the material has been published. As per luv4u's comments above, this has most clearly been indicated in recent times where material has been published on the drfunkenberry site.

By way of example, on 17 December, Dr Funkenberry published a video of the 'Screw Driver' rehearsal, which featured on the Hannah Ford Facebook site. The org permitted the reference to be published in a thread, which was also featured on the home page.

Where there is uncertainty about starting a thread in such circumstances, posters are asked to contact a mod.

Where a thread includes published material or referral to its location, and where it is not clear on the official approval of publication, then such references (which could include those examples listed above) are vulnerable to removal.

This helps a bit -there's still some vagueness- but also leads me to urge you all to check band members' failbook, youtube, etc pages frequently if not religiously as to not miss any goodies.

Now what about the new videos by that eye person?
