eg: If someone is stalking someone and is very abusive then for evidence and to protect the injured party, but only when the individual that is having the problems gives permission. But would a case of stalking be something to be made public? I agree that there should be exceptions possible when it involves criminal behaviour and law enforcement agancies should be informed. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

on the one hand, i say yes... it seems insensitive that someone would betray the assumed confidentiality of a private message...
then, on the other hand, i say no... because, at least part of me is drawn to the ridiculous flame wars that are generally incited when this happens... i'm not voting on this one... Mr. Ellis Dee-licious, the Official NPGigolo

I do not believe eg: stalking should become public this just brings more problems to yourself. I feel it is better not allowing whoever the person that is doing the abuse the attention they crave. By ignoring hopefully they will go away. If this does not work then I believe it should be taken up with the appropriate authorities and dealt with by them. If by allowing the appropriate authorities access to the abusive mail you receive then they have the evidence to prosecute then this has to be done. Eg: when receiving abusive phone calls you contact the telephone company, they put a tap on the phone, and the person is caught by them and dealt with. i guess not too many huh...
i started this thread because there were a lot of comments about it on LaV's thread... so i felt it deserved it's own discussion... i thought it would be more appropriate... and ppl wouldn't seem to be dogging LaV if they felt this way about this topic... oh well...

I'm on the fence. I've hardly ever said anything to anyone on this site that couldn't be said on a thread. I would hope those things are kept private but I know full well they might not be. I keep a certain distance though, whereas other people get REALLY involved here & create personal relationships, which is their choice. But people are "funny" & being talked about or betrayed is a risk in any "friendship", any situation. Posting a Note here isn't much different than paraphrasing a situation to someone else...
I guess since people are getting hurt & offended by it, it shouldn't happen anymore. I did enjoy that "guess the flamer" thread quite a bit though It wouldn't hurt for people to watch what they say & think about who they're talking to either. Folks get wild on here for no reason at all, shit gets silly. Say what you mean, mean what you say & move the fuck on...

not me. i think if someone is going to puss out and flame you privately in an orgnote, then they should be exposed for being a closet-asshole so that it can't be hidden from everyone.

It's up to the recipient to decide if it remains private or not. If you want the content to remain private, either don't send it or trust that the recipient wont make it public. The posting of orgnotes should simply follow standard site rules. It sounds like you have something to hide!

Bliss has a lot to hide. I think everyone should post every orgnote they ever got from that duck. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Unlike MJ above me there ...
Certainly I don't believe private thoughts should be placed out... HOWEVER if you have the guts to send scathing crap in abundance. Then you should also be able to stand to it if it is known! If it ends up making you appear an ass well.. HELLO! Seems people are more so worried that private feelings and relatings will be "outed" The subject matter is different! There is also a vast difference between resolving conflict privately and launching a complete blithering assault. DISCLAIMER: The above remarks are general and any likeness to living subjects is coincidental blah! blah! blah!

I definitely think it should be against the rules.
ESPECIALLY when things received off the org are put here. It has nothing to do with the org, and has no business finding it's way to the forums. -------

All due respect..as you know I respect you greatly. However, If that is so.. perhaps the error is on behalf of the author and their diatribe should have never made print in the first place. ...As is often quite true, one is suffering from "man in the mirror" complex from the start. Such displaced hate speaks to me of falsehood based on ones lack of self... a discontent that is projected upon another.
I hate to be over controversial but as I must, Dare one pick the splinter out of the eye of one and ignore the log within there own? First remove the log then you shall clearly see how to remove the splinter from your brother. Plagiarism at it's best.. a truth none the less

katt said: I personally do not think the moderators read people’s org notes. But if they do then that’s so naughty and should not be allowed.
I believe there maybe an exception in some cases eg: If someone is stalking someone and is very abusive then for evidence and to protect the injured party, but only when the individual that is having the problems gives permission. We don't read your orgnotes. Private messages sent to you are your own business... and quite frankly moderators have better things to do than the snoop around like that. I would have a big problem with invading anyone's privacy in that way.

As for people posting private orgnotes or private messages... generally we frown upon it, because it usually is only intended to start an argument, or to continue a private disagreement on the forums. So, usually we take action.
However... occasionally you receive a crazy-ass abusive orgnote that is just so funny, it needs to be shared with the rest of the world. It's preferable to post it without giving the author's name of course... but you must admit, it does make people think twice about what they put in their orgnotes, lest it be reproduced in the forums Anyway it kind of already is against the rules... at least we tend to censor such posts coz they only really have intentions of starting a flame war. Unless you're a moderator, in which case it is very funny.

I agree orgnotes should be private.
Afterall, it would be quite embarrassing if I posted Battier's love letters to me!
