I know this is a Forum devoted to us Prince fans, but It's really really boring in his section. General Discussion & Music: Non-Prince are my favorite parts [especially G & D ]. I mean, how much shit can you say about one person before it just gets....well....old.

The only real thing to look forward to in the Prince section is bootleg [both music & video], concert & album announcements. Everything else is 90% clutter & 10% informational imho. If it wasn't for the G & D, this place would be a purple wasteland. Everyone who participates here is pretty friggin' awesome [Shit, we all have our quirks & quips, which makes this place fun]. But damn, how uptight can one be over Prince?

Sure, I've been a contributor to some of the dumbest threads in "P:M&M", But now, Shit,I've been phoning it in....that place sucks! I'm a big fan of Prince, but I could give a shit about defending the guy, I'm just a fan of his music. I don't know him personally at all...

I wouldn't know if they're boring cuz I honestly never once clicked on any of the stuff listed between Music: Non-Prince & General Discussion.

so I'd say it's the Prince section for me as I've only been there about four times total, mainly because of links I found in Dan's signatures.

If Prince had a new album out, or a remaster/deluxe edition campaign, there would be more to talk about in PM&M. Lately all he's done is tour, and that was covered by the Concerts forum. Right now there's nothing to do but rehash old arguments.

actually the 20Ten/W2America touring 1/2 way thru was pretty exciting, bring back various band members, new album, a lot more interesting outfits and showing more skin, then then it just panned out. Sheila E on stage always amps the show up. But then no more 'evolving' this tour would have been a perfect op to have all previous band members join him for various shows and take it from there.

It's not just that there's nothing new out at the moment. It's also that no digital remasters of the original albums have ever been released, and there's no indication that they will (in fact information is to the contrary). If you read fan threads relating to Paul McCartney you'll see plenty of speculation about which album will be the next to get the deluxe remaster treatment and what bonus tracks would be included on that album. That's because Paul has already given the deluxe remaster treatment to three of his albums and it's clear that more are coming. You see the same thing from Pink Floyd fans regarding which "Immersion" sets will be next. Those threads never really stop even when there's a lull between releases.

If we had gotten a deluxe remaster of Purple Rain in 2009 for the 25th anniversary, right now we'd be speculating about whether SOTT will be next and, if so, which unreleased tracks would be included on that edition. People would be debating whether bits of gossip from supposed "insiders" are legitimate and whether hints on various websites indicate one thing or another. But at the moment all we have to talk about regarding digital remasters is whether we will ever get them, and the indications are that we won't, at least for the foreseeable future. That's not so interesting to talk about.

You can see a lot of speculation in PM&M about what Prince's next new album will sound like, but since his albums are so different, it's just pure speculation. So those threads aren't as interesting, at least to me.

I agree. I've recently read about the Stones reissuing Some Girls, which follows what they made with Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out and Exile On Main St. I'm a Stones fan, also a McCartney fan, but not as much as with Prince. Fortunately, I love Bowie as much as Prince, and one can really speculate about his new remaster (probably Low-Heroes) although not about his new record.
