Different message boards have their own ways about them and I just recently signed up. I figure I would ask about any norms such as making an introductory post before I engage in any of the other forums.

I thought it might be best to ask first.

Well, I was thinking about doing so if nothing more than to explain why I chose to sign up but wasn't sure if I should put it in general chat or if it was just the type of thing people don't do around here.

Perhaps I will go ahead and put one in there this evening...Thanks.

Sure! Often people post an "I'm new here" topic in General Discussion and then people come in and welcome them...and warn them.
