So there were threats made recently by a certain disgruntled org member toward the moderation staff and owner of this site. The rabid thread in which I refer has been locked, but damn... that would be some hysterical stuff if it wasn't such a sad cry for an intervention. Prince.org is a privately funded site with no allusions to the contrary. Why on Earth would someone think getting snipped is worthy of litigation under any circumstances when rules and the instructions on how to conduct oneself are clearly posted, it's a members-only site and by it's very nature, cannot be assumed to be a democratic entity?

it happens on a regular basis that some fucktard starts crying about some stupid shit and throws his toys out the pram and starts making stupid threads about forums. i'm a mod on a very large forum far bigger than the org and we respond with these threats with a swift ban, and not one single person has followed through. they don't have a leg to stand on really. when someone waffles about being a legal expert it usually just means they are a wanker that's watched a bit of american telly and knows fuck all about the law, as anyone who knew a clue about the law wouldn't bother making stupid threats

^ Well, he hasn't been banned, but it just underscores the fact that moderation is a discretionary process and not a simple cut-and-dry system. Threats like his, with phrases used such as "my anger is mighty" should very well be taken seriously, though.

our site rule is if anyone threatens a mod or the site or it's owners they aren't welcome anymore and are instantly banned. other sites will have their own rules on the subject, or may have no rules and treat each incident on it's own merits

as for the particular thread you refer to, there are a number of things mention that indicate the poster doesn't have a clue. if someone gets pissed off cuz of a post on a forum dedicted to a pop star, they need their head looked at

we don't make that an open rule to members in that it's not listed in the rules, but other threatening behavoir etc isn't tolerated and it's to be expected that you'll be banned and potentially all posts deleted or sent to the spam pit if you act like a cock. the org is pretty tolerant in what it allows, so fuck knows what shit they posted to get deleted

or maybe it was the time of the month for the mod, or they had a hangover. members should be savvy enough not to annoy the alkie bitches from hell that moderate these forums

No, I saw the posts before the snips and they were in my opinion warranted. The guy was undermining a Marketplace sale with his usual condescending, course language.

That would mean Prince would be banned from the org, of course. But since the internet's dead to him, I don't think he'd mind.

i used to think that too. but, it's been made clear to me that some people on this website are completely invested in what goes down here. to the point of taking it real.
