What Happens To Org Accounts of People who Pass Away or Leave Indefinitely ..are those screen names protected or are the accounts deleted after awhile just like the person never existed. The org should have a memorial forum. LOVE HARD.

I'm not totally sure.
I remember somebody posting something about 4 years ago telling us 'goodbye' and that they were going to die soon. It was a gracious thread, and I was a bit taken aback by it. I wish I remember the name of the orger who posted that.

Well since the orger has passed on
They cannot delete their account. It will just be inactive for years. Moving to site discussion. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

They cannot delete their account. It will just be inactive for years. Moving to site discussion. They're not ever deleted. Many orgers deleted their accounts and had them stolen shortly afterwards, so when they wanted the name back they found that somebody else had taken it already, but those accounts have never made a single post or been in the chat room. Those "thefts" were obviously abandoned and done just for the hell of it, but they never expire. Personally I think that every year or so, an email should be sent out to the members' listed email addresses and if you don't reply for let's say a month or if the email bounce, then the account is deleted.

Actually, an orger passed away not too long ago, and one of their friends or relatives signed on under her name, or something, and let us all know she had died. (cancer, i think).
You never know... typically, the account will just linger until someone deletes it. Good question, though |

That happened right before I joined the org, so I never saw that. I guess that sometimes you just have to find support wherever it is, even if it's from a bunch of nutty Prince fans. Does anyone ever know what happened to this person? I abdicated the throne in Ithaca, but now I am...

I believe she's still around here. She was very happy her virtual friends at p.org were there for her. We talked a little after... she was going through some hard times at home. |
