I a long time causal Prince fan, so I like to go on the Org to find out things I don't know about. However, halfway through every thread, the tide turns and everyone gets all Snarky. What's going on? Has the Org always been this way?

NO. It hasn't always been this way.

It started getting more hostile around 3 years ago.

There have always been the odd few but the haters seem more prevalent these days.

It's always been rough in here in some form or fashion but it has never been this bad before. I think it started 2 years ago, maybe even 3. Whatever the case, it's a shame cause this forum was a great one. Maybe it'll be great again in the future but it sure isn't now.

it's always bee that way. it's hard not to when you have members who think that everyone but Prince sucks and no other musician is deserving of applaud or success. when you take that lack of rational ability and populate a website with it with the other members who do have a brain, it is certain that conflict will arise.

Weird, because there's always room for healthy debate and disagreements. When it turns personal, it's a bit juvenile, I think. I take most things on here (and on the internet in general) with a grain of salt. People can't let things get to them to the degree they do here, or in other places, message boards, forums, etc. When the computer shuts down, their life goes on, regardless of what some lollipop said on Prince.org, Lunch.com, epinions.com, or alt.music.prince. I'm not being preachy, just noting my own experience. Sometimes it's just time to grow up.

If you want to talk odiously about Prince and his music, this is the place to do it. I do not expect positivity to be prominent here any longer. When I 1st joined back in 1996, it was.

Back in the day, when I started to look online for P info I lurkede around here and on HQ. It didn't take me long to join HQ - I just found the tone here on the Org a bit hard and unfriendly

Since HQ shut down I joined here and Princefams.com. To be frank I still find the tone here hard and unfriendly, but think the info is better than on Pfams.com. I don't realy post here - just stop by for new info. I do post on Pfams.com + find the tone happy and friendly

Just my 2 cents - don't want to start any trouble, or some oldfashion Org/HQ war.

Someone makes a good point to counter wat someone else says and the name callin starts then it gets personal.
Seems like some ppl come here on 'defense mode'. One will ask a simple question and the reaction from some will make u think that u cussed them out in your question
But I believe 'defense mode' comes on cause of all the name callin and belittling.
It has to stop.
I joined in November of '08 and it has gotten worse since then

I swear some ppl here have stomach ulcers and high blood pressure jus from the org

People have always been nasty here. Now the post-Musicology wave of new, younger fans, has changed things (obviously many people here don't know anything about Prince except what they've read in the tabloids) but i'm not sure how it affects the site since the rookies seem 2 b more enthusiastic than the older fans...

Welcome to the Org Been here since 2003, deleted my account and came back and it's always been like this

as i recall it was pretty hectic in the late '90s and very early '00s. since the lawsuits against fans and various other fiascoes, a lot of folks simply, quietly let themselves off of the purple bus. things were relatively calm on the prince sites for a while. the present situation seems to me to be a resurgence of the classical fam/hater archetypal conflict from the deep dark bowels of the 'new power soul' era.

I hawe no problems whith te newbies as we call them at the org.even the obvius questions i think we should answer without sarcasam....people shoul realise that in many countries we dont have info or material and the Prince cds....and cost a fortune to import a cd or a book.i think the heaters should think on this before start whith the sarcasam.

well when the NPGMC began and closed the energy wasn't good.
You can still sift through threads and find some good posts about the music.
With the probable notion of this site being the go-to for occasional media and watch from Lotusflow3R.Some members feel it necessary ( behind the freedom of speech veil) to post anything be it disrespectful or redundant.
