I just want to talk about the good times and remember the Prince that I adore with people that understand without somebody else raining on my parade because I'd rather talk about "Head" than anything that's on LotusFlow3r.
No more candy 4 u, Hatrina. Just kidding. A buddy told me recently that they hadn't heard the new album and hadn't tried to see the TV performances either. I asked him if he was boycotting P and he said he sorta was. I share in your frustration. Other P fans do, too. See you at the next AARP meeting.

I don't go for that artificial stuff, no way! I've got my own box of real chocolate, it's all vintage and it's just as tasty today as it was when it was first made! Mmmmm...mmmmm...good! AARP meeting? I guess I'll see y'all in about 20 years! [Edited 4/25/09 15:29pm] I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

for those interested in speaking about the music and all. http://prince.org/msg/3/296384 http://prince.org/blog/20...ke-closed/ which is great, but you have hardcore vintage fans and hardcore fans of the current stuff. so that's not going to please the vintage fans. and then when there are threads comparing new stuff to old stuff, that's a whole new pile of gifts under the tree for us mods. Then maybe we need a sticky thead at the top "Vintage"...?

Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic. With regards to this discussion, the Vintage Prince years are 1978 - 1988. With regards to this discussion, the Vintage Prince years are 1978 - 1988. i think a lot of people consider everything up to and through the symbol years to be "vintage". i think it depends on your age and when you started getting into his music, i guess. that's my problem with this idea...the definition is so subjective, it would be a holy mess to moderate it.

this is full-size:
i made a whole bunch of different avatars back in 2005 but stupidly did them at 72dpi, 100x100. no larger version of this one exists. basically, the little gold man is a buddhist sculpture. the five birds coming out of his mouth are representative of the five dhyani buddhas. he's wearing a domino mask and rogue cheeks like my other avatars: the background is a vertigo pattern lifted from an old sensationalist christian comic booklet (similar to chick tracts but not actually a jack chick tract). i believe it was about the looming threat of communist mind control. the little splash of rainbow is from a self-generating art piece by takeshi murata: since this is a prince forum here are some bonus prince avatars: [Edited 4/28/09 20:04pm] it's time for a new direction / it's time for jazz to die

Your avie seems to have had a little bit of thought put into it. Thanks for explaining. I see you always have the Prince in his Borat suit to fall back on. The skin is too light...the hair is too blond and permed looking...and I can see the teeth but I can barely make out the lips! If anyone confused your avatar for a sambo doll...all they had to do was Google one. Anyhoo! There has been some trippy ass shit going on around here lately...that I can't quite put my finger on enough...to call it out for what it is...publicly...but I do have a remedy in mind for like minded folks such as you and I. Invested...interested parties would do well to keep an eye on their Orgnotes. [Edited 4/28/09 23:23pm] I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

spiritandtruth said: This is my take, and please forgive me if I'm stating the obvious... but, it seems that all topics related to Prince whether it be past or present, haters or fams, etc is assigned to the appropriate forum - this one. Once you propose segregating these discussions, where does it end? Create a forum for each of the fan categories in which one might classify themselves? And for what ultimate purpose... to TRY to eliminate the postings of opinions that may differ? Or to keep certain "undesirables" out of the group? Seems like you could just as easily avoid the threads with which you have no interest or elect to not respond to baiters within any chosen thread. Perhaps I misunderstand your intent and I'm sure someone else could articulate a response better than my own. Anyway, jmho
Yeah, even though I agree with most of what Hatrina said about Vintage Prince vs. New Prince, I really don't see the point of splitting off into a new forum for it. The Normal Whores Club
