Have your choice of posts that APPEAR

There should be a way to have certain orgers posts not show on your own system.

The way U can block orgers from contacting U thru org notes etc.

This way annoying posters don't have to EVEN be SEEN!

You can already block certain users from Orgnoting you and emailing you through the Org. However there's no "kill file" option for the forums. I think that option would be a good thing.

Filters would be nice, as would other features, but it takes time - a lot of time to do this all from raw code, and I don't think Ben has the time for this these days.

let me ask you something ian... with the continual segregation of the forums (musicians hangout, politics & religion) over the last few months, and now you thinking that killfiling certain orgers/posts/threads, is the intention to make this place even more boring and less active than it's been lately?

just curious. confused

I am entitled to my opinion, am I not? I never said anything about us actually implementing such a kill-file option, so keep your knickers on smile

I do think that there are probably a couple of forums that could be merged - right now we probably have too many. That's something that can be addressed pretty easily. However I do feel that the P&R forum is a good addition - it has been popular since it was created and it downplays the GD forum which is what Ben wanted, since the GD forum (as fun as it can be) is full of rubbish.

Personally, I like the separation of the forums. Because it gives instant access to the top 20 or so posts in that category at your fingertips, since I tend to only look at the first page of each forum.

hmmm. most of the stuff i've read in the P&R forum is rubbish too. conspiracy theorists abound.

but... was the intention of opening the P&R forum to make the GD devoid of ALL serious conversation? i don't see how opening a new one has changed the old one for the better. it's made the GD even more of a waste.

The intention of opening the P&R forum was to provide a forum where people can discuss those heady subjects of politics, religion, and other "serious" topics of conversation. GD forum is (and always has been) more of a "social" forum. You may feel it's a waste, but I think we need a "catch-all" forum like that.

As for the GD forum becoming a waste, well it was always a waste wasn't it smile

yeah, well before, the GD forum was (and always had been) the place to discuss those things and everything else under the sun.

now, am i disappointed that i don't have to be subjected to the crackpot ramblings of conspiracy theorists like soulpower anymore? or the continual spam from people like cloud9 and dreamfirstbornjew (or whatever he's calling himself now?

not at all. however, you're watering down all of the forums by dividing them up into such specific categories. there's a little bit of interesting stuff in each forum now, instead of a lot of it in 1 forum.

but anywho.. rolleyes

Moany moany moan moan.

Oh well. That's your opinion. I think there are some forums that could be easily combined (e.g. Prince, NPGMC, and related artists forums), but it makes sense to have some separation by category. By all means post your suggestions on this forum, if you have a great idea on how to improve the site.
