I just wanna say. this is crap. i have tons of friends i talk to over there
this is going to suck i cant chat. this is a disgrace to many fans that support prince and pay for his shows. prince get over it and open the site danm whats the problem now. They are closing HQ over a stupid banner haha gosh. I payed alot of money for this guy not no more cuz i aint paying nothing to see him anymore not the way he treats his fans on the internet. I feel disgusted in a way that i payed all this money and supported this man for years and this is how we as fans get rewarded. lol Prince doesn't owe anything to us I'm not saying he does. Reading all this is making me sick. The way I see it, it seems to be a perfectly timed controversy to coincide with Prince's opening of his new site. The James Brown banner has been up forever so would it have been a big deal to put it back? I have been a member of this site since 1999, and HQ since 2004. Prince fans and their love/hate relationship with Prince have always been a bone of contention with me. I just hope that Prince doesn't decide to scrap his plans to open a new site because of this nonsense.

EVERYONE knows how anal Prince has become about this shit.... so I do question the judgment to dabble in areas known to be sensitive. If Prince asked for them not to use his likeness or anything which represents his likeness (the symbol) in any of the sites graphics (like the header) and they use a graphic with some thing which 'resembled' his symbol anyway... they were honoring the request... but not the spirit. No tears will come from my eyes over the site (a couple people pissed in my kool-aid).... and I won't be less of a Prince fan because its gone. It's been all about the muzik for me for decades prior to me even knowing that fan sites existed... and it will continue to be about the muzik long after their gone. That sites was not the be all to end all.... life will move on... and the fans will just congregate elsewhere. Like here for instance.  | |

Just seems kind of strange that the owner of HQ decided to close HQ the day before P's site was assumed to open. Not saying it was done intentionally, but one can't help but wonder if it was, and why he chose to close it the day before without notifying HQ members, ahead of time about it. Especially if it is stated here by some HQ members that the request was made, I'm assuming before today, to take the banners down. anyhoo.... it's the same old story, prince wants ownership of his stuff. the lotusflower idea is his intellectual property and the current focus of his promotional expenditure. he can't risk someone confusing a similar knock off product for his own. his legal team has to give notice. that being said, i can certainly see how it would get tiring running a fan site dedicated to someone who so vigorously defends against the fans

This is exactly how I feel! I have love for both sites and I think that the people on both sites are cool as hell. People have various opinions about Prince and his music, like and dislikes, but isn't that what makes a forum a forum? Prince shouldn't be scared if a person dislikes a particular song or whatever. It's our right, cause I can tell you there are a few Prince songs I can do without. Prince should just use that a way to make himself a better artist instead of tearing people down. Embrace your fan-base, don't alienate us. What would Prince do without us, play in Paisley Park all by himself? I feel bad for Aaron because he put a great deal of effort not for himself, but for many others. I commend you Aaron and Ben too. Maybe in the near future things can be worked out.
