Why the hell would anyone get so eaten up by a website which, let's face it, only reasonably hardcore fans are going to see and use. Also, who in their right mind would guess from any banner that HQ could use that the site is "official"?? P needs to get some good common sense advice from someone (since he obviously has none himself and seemingly get none from his buddies) before he starts to alienate his fanbase. for any any newbies - know this is very common occurrence...anytime Prince has a new product coming out be it an album/tour etc he turns into an asshole and tries to kill off his competition.

For all the bitching and the whining I'm seeing, all of you are going to flock to his new site whenever, if ever, it opens and he's going to fuck you all over again! Me personally, I got tired of getting fucked, so I quit opening my legs! It actually felt good to see all of you, all up in arms with anxiety and anticipation of the next crumb Prince is going to throw, without giving a damn myself! I've paid the price of being a Prince fan and now I'm done. Prince will never get another dime from me and that's just the way it is. I don't feel that way at all 4bjb. Aaron was a big Prince fan who created a community for other fans to go to. Prince, who is very protective of his image, has very specific things he wants released and not released. While Aaron's not a mind reader, knowing how conscientious Prince is of his image, one should always be aware of what they allow to be posted on a fan site. I'm actually sorry to see HQ go, though I never posted there. When you post to an online community, you develop relationships with the ppl there, friendships. And there are a lot of ppl there that have developed those relationships with each other. It does serve a purpose because it brings people together who have, as a common theme, the enjoyment of someone's music. At least that's what it should do. Back when L4OA was still open, I developed some very good friendships that I still have and am very close to some of them and have met a few of them. It stopped being about Prince, and became about the interactions and relationships between the people that were there. And I think ultimately that's what a fan site should be about. Yes, the common theme between those posting at HQ and here is that we all enjoy Prince's music (for the most part), but ultimately it's about bringing people together who have that commonality, who have that same love for the music. The problem comes in with fan sites when all it is focused upon is the common theme, and not about developing those relationships with other like-minded people. Because if you don't find other areas of commonality, or even where you may differ, you never move beyond the surface, and issues like this arise. But then again, what do I know? I may be way off the mark as I tend to stay in P&R because I enjoy reading about and discussing God. But I do read the other forums from time to time even if I don't post.
I am sorry to see HQ go. It is a loss to those that posted there. I agree with this entire post! I posted more frequenty on HQ than I did here simply because most of the friends I made on NPGMC before it closed down were a part of that Prince fan website. If HQ is really closed for good, it will be unfortunate because there were some good threads and articles posted there. Unfortunately the feud between Prince's crew and HQ has heated up once again because of a banner. Of course it was Aaron's decision to close the site and I understand completely why Aaron felt the need to do so. On the other hand, I can also understand why he was asked to remove the banner. At first glance, I thought it was an "official" banner given to HQ by Prince - the banner very closely resembles the imagery on the lotusflow3r website. I was surprised to find out that it was actualy a fan made "lotusflow3r website inspired" banner instead.It was only a matter of time that issues would arise, especially since there was an altered version of Prince's trademarked symbol included in the image. HQ moderators and Aaron already know how Prince is when it comes to imagery. Prince has an obsession with protecting his image "and it's likeness" from being used without his permission. Most of us went through this before with the whole PFU initiative, so we all know how difficult it is for Prince to be lenient when it comes to this subject. Being a freelance graphic artist and web designer myself, I can understand how frustrating it is to deal with the fine line of expressing myself artistically and not breaking any copyright/trademark laws in the process. In this circumstance, the symbol that is used in the banner is trademarked. Although it's altered, anyone who is a Prince fan can tell that it's Prince's symbol with flower petals placed on it. Although the banner is a beautiful rendition of the lotusflow3r website it was way too obvious a representation of "its likeness" for Prince and his crew to ignore. Hopefully Aaron will open the site back up, but if he doesn't I'm thankfull for the memorable threads, articles, and pics I have received throughout the years being an HQ member. follow me on twitter - Lovenharmony1 aka @DAPfan2c | |

I loved it when I joined it but overtime, it became a burden but my love for Prince and his music trumped any reason for me to stop going to HQ. Hell, I don't even like the org that much but like with HQ, P and his music keep me coming here. I wouldn't waste time on a site for someone who I didn't like, unlike many others around here do regularly. Oops did I say that out loud? Oh yeah I did! Plus I do have friends over there but luckily, they are for the most part on other sites like this one or they live here in NYC so I'm not crying about this.
