No tears will come from my eyes over the site (a couple people pissed in my kool-aid).... and I won't be less of a Prince fan because its gone. It's been all about the muzik for me for decades prior to me even knowing that fan sites existed... and it will continue to be about the muzik long after their gone. That sites was not the be all to end all.... life will move on... and the fans will just congregate elsewhere. Like here for instance.  well saidThey don't here me though. Last note.... there is a huge difference between fans posting graphics in threads which use in part other images, thereby turning them into new works of art... vs. using 'specific' imagery as a fixed part of a web site. One is fair usage and all Prince really can do is moan if he doesn't like it... the other 'can' cross into misleading representation and/or could come into direct conflict with Prince's similar interest... ie his on website, which apparently was the issue here. Prince.org comes across as more a pure fan site... Housequake.com was about fans... but in its slick presentation always came across as something more 'official'. Prince choose to deal with them like a business whose existence he didn't want compromising his own plans. Thank you Big Daddy HQ. I was just about to post the words: the truth is somewhere in the middle. I'm not on Aaron's side and I'm not on Prince's side on this but I could give less than a damn that Housequake is closed....for now. I feel Aaron is being a drama queen and this is not the first time. He acts like a little kid testing his father's boundaries and then wants to feign being crushed when he gets punished. As far as Prince goes, why is anyone remotely surprised by anything this guy does?

If HQ is really closed for good, it will be unfortunate because there were some good threads and articles posted there. Unfortunately the feud between Prince's crew and HQ has heated up once again because of a banner. Of course it was Aaron's decision to close the site and I understand completely why Aaron felt the need to do so. On the other hand, I can also understand why he was asked to remove the banner. At first glance, I thought it was an "official" banner given to HQ by Prince - the banner very closely resembles the imagery on the lotusflow3r website. I was surprised to find out that it was actualy a fan made "lotusflow3r website inspired" banner instead.It was only a matter of time that issues would arise, especially since there was an altered version of Prince's trademarked symbol included in the image. HQ moderators and Aaron already know how Prince is when it comes to imagery. Prince has an obsession with protecting his image "and it's likeness" from being used without his permission. Most of us went through this before with the whole PFU initiative, so we all know how difficult it is for Prince to be lenient when it comes to this subject. Being a freelance graphic artist and web designer myself, I can understand how frustrating it is to deal with the fine line of expressing myself artistically and not breaking any copyright/trademark laws in the process. In this circumstance, the symbol that is used in the banner is trademarked. Although it's altered, anyone who is a Prince fan can tell that it's Prince's symbol with flower petals placed on it. Although the banner is a beautiful rendition of the lotusflow3r website it was way too obvious a representation of "its likeness" for Prince and his crew to ignore. Hopefully Aaron will open the site back up, but if he doesn't I'm thankfull for the memorable threads, articles, and pics I have received throughout the years being an HQ member. imo your statement is indeed the most heartfelt.
