"Wellbeing Forum" Please!

Physical Health; Beauty; Fashion; Household Tips; Recipes; Relationship Advice...

It isn't just me whom thinks it would be a great idea!

Leave G.D. for the "funny" threads, entertainment, sport etcetera and moderate the new forum accordingly. The problem with the old L.S.R. forum was that the jokey threads weren't moved or removed, so the silly posts cheapened the entire enterprise.

At present, a lot of serious threads about bettering ourselves are getting lost amidst silly topics.

Please, please, please!

.

I´m definitely with Justin on this one....there´s obviously a huge demand for this, as seen in the amount of similar topics in the GD forum, and I really don´t understand why people don´t take Justin´s suggestion seriously.

And a lot of those health and fitness topics were quite successful in the GD as well, i.e. lots of people replied and posted something....

And keep in mind, this is a website dedicated to Prince, an artist who´s always been known for being a health and fitness freak.

I totally support Justin´s idea.

Please make it happen.

I would really like this too. I think it's a great idea.

I agree. I've often thought of posting similar related topics, but didn't want them getting lost in GD or have stupid, silly responses.

You look VERY beautiful !

But back to the topic...
lol

We should ask Matt or Ben again and come up with some possible examples, like diet, fitness, sex questions, aphrodisiacs, drug related topics, herbs, cooking, nutritional value of certain foods, nutrition myths etc. etc.

What about the mods ? Can they create a new forum or do Ben and Matt have the last word ? I´m sure Matt would support this since he´s a Coca Cola afficionado and we could discuss beverages as well. I love M150 and Lipovitan and stuff like that.

its up to ben...

i did however start a topic in the mod squad in hopes to spark a discussion amoungst the mods...

there doesnt seem to be any objections to the creation a new forum but its going to take two things to make it happen...

1) public interest

and

2) ben's okay

Really? Then how come the bugs that make the site crash or behave oddly are still here? WSOD, the forums being down, the chat crashing, forum posts disappearing etc... shake

I like the idea, although I am not sure about the title.

sorry, im here...the broken org flower is a bug, isnt it? as far as the other issues are concerned i get the impression that ben isnt aware of a fix for those...i've sent him the error message when the problem occured and he responded with concern...but the problem wasn't fixed...i just can't imagine finding a solution and then saying, "oh fuck it...let them deal with the problem".

A little of what you fancy does you no harm from time to time. Unless you're diabetic or something. lol

There are a few reasons.

1. If I had a say, I'd want there to be fewer forums, not more. This place is already segregated enough as it is.

2. The idea for a new forum includes topics that fit perfectly well in the General Discussion. There are so many different topics you've included for the proposed new forum that the idea of "General Discussion" seems almost moot.

3. I don't think this website has changed to the point that this forum, as well-intentioned as it may be, would be any different from that awful LSR forum. That forum was an impetus for me to leave the site before. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but the way that forum turned out made me not want to visit this website. Basically, I feel that the enterprise would be cheapened, as you say.

This is just my opinion. I'm not trying to attack you for having an idea. I just have a different idea of what the purposes of this website should be.

Thank God I'm not a moderator!

But the divisions between the existing forums are helpful, rather than a hinderance. It's like going to a supermarket for a pint of milk - you wouldn't expect to find the milk next to the Listerine.

Not at all. Genderal Discussion could continue to feature:

Mild smut;
Humour;
Movies;
Television;
Radio;
Sports;
Non-political news items;
Nostalgia;
Showbiz;
General chit-chat.

There's a number of serious topics in G.D. at the moment which would be better served if moderated in a separate forum...

A discussion on wearing fur - http://www.prince.org/msg/100/203939
A discussion on trusting your partner - http://www.prince.org/msg/100/203936
A discussion on heartburn remedies - http://www.prince.org/msg/100/203905

There's an obvious difference between discussing issues with sexual health and posting titillation. I'm not trying to denigrate any of the moderators' efforts from the time of the LSR forum, but I don't believe it was moderated correctly.

It's becoming more and more apparent that if the site is going to survive and stay fresh, we can't rely on Prince to provide new input for us to discuss. My visits to the site would be more frequent and last longer if there was a forum which discussed (for want of a better phrase) self-help.

Please take a look at this British forum here: http://forum.digitalspy.c....php?f=150

The actual remit of the site is to discuss broadcast media and showbiz. You wouldn't expect an "Advice Forum" to be popular - but it is.

lol Maybe he would, just to make us fit .... but I think that the problem prolly has to do with having the time to find a solution, there are solutions to pretty much anything as long as you take or have the time to look for them. I appreciate that Ben has a family and a whole other life of course, just pointing out that he might not want/have time for added parts to the website, which inevitable makes more work. smile
