MY HATE FOR STICKIES; the killers of conversation... So, I kinda liked it better when people could talk dresses on one thread, and others could talk the HOW THE HELL DID SHE GET AN OSCAR aspect could be divided.
Now we get everyone shouting on stickies that are about EVERY aspect of one subject, what makes it irritating to navigate OR to have an actual discussion. Same with the new album sticky. it clears up space, suuuuure, but it is kind of messy and irritating. I want to be able to focus on a discussion about ONE song in particular or WHATEVER, but nooooo. Sigh. Shrug. I am wearing my I HATE STICKIES-t-shirt today. Yes I am.

at least in the case of the oscar fashion thread, i have to agree.
rules are rules and that's great, but when rules are carried out arbitrarily, the purpose behind the rules kinda lose their potency. i really wish when we did the whole consolidating multiple threads into one sticky procedure around here, mods would consider it on a case-by-case basis instead of automatically locking threads up because they appear to have ostensible similarities. just the thoughts of a senile, washed-up former mod.

I am sure it is only something people can warm up to after having laid down the mods-mantle.

As with all moderating things, there is a certain "art" that goes into the work. On busy days, I understand that some threads may be lumped together for wrong reasons and locked up and referenced in a sticky.
I just ask that, AS MODS CAN, pay attention to what you are doing with the stickies. Also, I don't think mods HAVE to be the one to start a sticky. When a conversation is already alive and well in a centralized thread, it makes no sense for a new thread to be created by a mod, just to say "This is the only thread you can discuss this in." Just sticky that existing thread and go on with the day.

And, once again, I would beg that duplicate threads be locked rather than "removed". Putting time into a post or getting fun replies from friends and then having it vanish sucks. There's no reason for it. Seattle Org Invasion July 28th-30th http://www.prince.org/msg/2/177514
