I come here almost strictly for the GD and only meander to the other forums when the GD is especially dead. So the GD orgers are especially dear to me. These days I don't make many new friends; I stick to conversing with ones I made years ago, when I first started orging. I don't really care about contacts in this community. This ain't the place for popularity contests. But I do feel comfortable here, and somewhat established, and I like seeing what all of the old-schoolers (and n00bs) are up to and what's going on in their lives.

I suppose I also like interacting with orgers that are older than myself, as it gives me perspectives that I would not normally get - my circle of friends IRL are mostly my own age. Now that I think about it, age is not the only factor; socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and nationalities are all important too. Not that these categories define any one person, but I like to learn, and I find myself learning quite a bit from people whose backgrounds are different than my own. I don't necessarily engage in all of these debates, discussions, and conversations, but I do observe, and I do find it enjoyable yet informational. All the differing viewpoints are lovely. Where else would you get a group of such diverse people to converse on every little thing in the world?

I am on the computer a lot to escape from my mundane life and shitty job. I play Sims and I email and shop and surf and blog and chat. The Internet is the cheapest and most convenient way to talk to my boyfriend, who is far away at the moment, so I find myself naturally going to the org to check up on things. The org has historically been a large escape for me, though I no longer see it as such.

I am grateful for the friendships I have made through this site: both those that stay on the boards and those that transcend the org, whether it's via phone, various messengers, or person to person meetings. Love you guys.

For me? 50% of the time i try and find and respond to the fun site of the GD.
The community sense has grown a lot stronger (at least for me) after the black&purple days, although they are irreplaceable and incomparable to the org as it is now. Lots of GD people i consider as friends, with the knowledge i will need to see some of them IRL to get the final verdict.
40% goes into lurking/observing/reading. For various reasons i do not post on these threads but sometimes think about it a lot.
Other 10%? I think i sometimes put some writing down that'll make ppl think; quaidbowl, 9s ban, science stuff, trying the right the wrong, etc.

Then for a while it was all about the connections. To just about anyone and everyone. I met more and more people in person, just kept getting more and more connected and wrapped up in it.
Now I think I've pulled back a bit. I think it goes in waves. Certainly there are people I care about a great deal here, and this is my main forum for keeping up with certain people. But I also get really, really bored of it from time to time too. But even when I do (and am) I can't stop checking in, just to see how people are doing.
