Seriously... about all the Valentine's day threads

I thought the reason for a sticky thread was to keep the forums from flooding with threads about the same topic. At least that's the understanding of most people, and have been the explanation in the past by moderators, for example with the threads about the tsunami. If that's the case, why are all these VD threads allowed? I personally couldn't give a shit about the day, it just bugs me with all these threads that make me have to go through 4 pages of the GD to see what's up BESIDES VD threads disbelief

Enlightenment please moderators! smile

I know it's the loosest and that's fine, but in other cases (like with the tsunami) other threads than the sticky one have been locked instantly... that's why I ask.

Oh, and....

mad 13 of the topics on the first GD page are Valentines Day threads, most of them dedicated to a single person. That at least belongs in an email or an orgnote rolleyes disbelief

We left alot of these threads up for at least over a week now. Not to mention it was mid-day that some of the threads were locked. So for half the day, people were free to post away on them, and mid day, I locked some and redirected everyone to the official valentines sticky. Some people loved them, some people were getting sick of the amount of them in GD. There's no way we can make both sides happy, and I didn't lock the threads just to be a prick. They were nice threads, I was just trying to be fair those who felt the threads were getting out of control in GD.

you know..theres a small group of us here who love chatting about the Oscars..now, would it be fair to those who dont to create a thread for each individual nomination category so that we can discuss?

ive been adding new updated info on the Oscars on my sole lil lonely thread...that way, those who dont get there kicks that way arent overwhelmed by it...

so stop being so censored selfish folks...

When there is a major holiday, there will be multiple threads about it. If everything were crammed into one sticky thread, it would be 400 posts long and unreadable. I can understand being irritated with all of the one-orger-to-another V-day threads, but the discussion threads. . .very annoying that those were not just locked, but DELETED.

Sorry that people are bitter about Valentines Day, but geezus. sigh

Ok, that was a false statement. People ARE bitter about Valentines Day. lol That's not disrespect, that's TRUE. Being bitter about Valentines Day is part of US culture at this point. This isn't aimed at Teacher; lots of people have been griping about the V-day stuff.

I think the moderation was scattered/arbitrary. Which it has every right to be, of course. I'm just voicing my opinion about it. In the site discussion forum. Whassamatter? confused

Nope it wasn't and I know it Tackam. hug I'll say again what my gripe was with it all - the threads aimed at a single orger that had no value for other orgers other than going "awwww how sweet" or "awwww, thank you". There were 13 such threads on the first page yesterday, and it wasn't fun to try and find potentially interesting threads among them. I can't recall there being 13 "merry xmas orgerX" threads on the first page around xmas, or for halloween. I feel it went overboard, so I ASKED THE MODERATORS! People (not you Tackam) seem to think I have Tom on a string here, but if my complaint hadn't been valid I would have been told so. That's that. smile

Yep. It was some actual discussion threads that were deleted. In my opinion, it should have been the other way around, if anything: lock the discussion threads but leave them readable, tell the 1-1 people to take it to orgnotes and delete those.

It doesn't matter now, just my opinion for future reference, I guess.

1) no thread is ever deleted..its hidden.

2) per the logg I only see threads hidden that were silly threads that were created in retaliation of the mods locking up the other threads...maybe a mod accidently hide a real thread by mistake....but i see notes and explenations that look justified for each hidden thread.....maybe there is more going on then you are privy too....

whatever the case is, you've made your point and hopefully the mods of the gd forum have listened...

1) Well, I know that, but from a non-mod perspective, they may as well have been deleted.
2) I discussed my more specific conerns with the mod in question, as per site rules.

Thanks. . .
