Northern England meet-up

Add a reply if you're interested in coming along to a Northern meet-up. If there's enough of you out there, we'll set a date & a place!

Depending on how far north you are, you are very welcome to come to the Scottish Org meetup, in Edinburgh on the 25th of October smile

I think Manchester would probably be the best, although Sheffield is damn good too. Which is easier for you guys?

Count me in for Manchester. Just give me plenty of notice and a good pointer. Watch out for the football matches. United at home against a London side are a big no-no!

Ah, anyone know the Man U fixtures? I'm not a big football fan, so I've no idea. I'm with you Savage, I don't want to be stuck in a train carriage filled with footie fans!

Daned, when you have an idea of what date you want just check out the fixture list on www.bbc.co.uk sport section. Click on the team and then search fixtures.

When are you thinking of? I'll help if you org note me!

Well, I was thinking a Saturday would be best. Sadly, man U are playing on December 6th. On the 13th, it's Man U v Man City (definitely want to avoid Manchester on that day!). After that, it's too late in the month and too near to Xmas. In January, the 3rd is too near the festive season & on the 10th, it's Man U vs Newcastle.

So, assuming everyone wants a Saturday (I don't mind Fridays, but I live over the road from work, so I woulnd't), I'd suggest either Saturday 29th November or Saturday 10th January. No Manchester teams are scheduled to play anywhere.

Which sounds best to you guys?

As most of the pubs near the station are too dodgy/crowded, I'd suggest the Dry Bar on Oldham St. You can get a map off http://www.yell.com but for some reason I can't post the pic on here.

OK. So January 10th it is at the Dry Bar on Oldham St, Manchester. What time should we go for? Late afternoon or early evening? I quite fancy late afternoon (say around 5:30) as that would give me enough time to visit a few of Oldham Streets fine record shops.

What do you think?

Yeah, that would be fine with me I think. We could meet earlier and then go for a meal like we did last time and then hit the bars after.

I'm thinking that a lot of people may be skint at this time of the month after Xmas. Maybe we should wait till at least mid FebWhat about 14th (Velentines, tricky) or 21st? Just don't want to organise this and then people drop out due to lack of funds?

What about Saturday 8th February? Most folk get paid at the start of the month, so the Feb pay packet should put everyone right.

So 5.30pm at the Dry Bar on Oldham St on Saturday 8th February.

Pop something in your org signature to put it in everybody's mind.
