I didn't mean to speak untruths and I will correct myself when I misspeak. I think "Satan is my Master" was a song written by Ben Folds, and JT put it on one of his albums, but it wasn't his original song. The song was meant to be a joke, but really -- why put that on your album at all? I don't get this all "hail satan" bullshit -- are they trying to be funny or cute? It's not cute.

.

That song was never on a Justin Timberlake record.

.

Okay, so who wrote it and where did it come from?

Why am I insane? Insane, because I care about Prince's legacy? Insane, because he didn't want someone singing along with him with his image up on a screen? Insane, because Prince was a JW; God-loving Man and doing those types of things are considered demonic and wrong?!

.

Oh, I'm insane alright. You know damn well that Prince would NEVER do this to another artist! JTs tribute to Prince was demonic. Read up on occult symbolism....it was all there in the SB halftime show. They were mocking his death, but people are too ignorant to see what they were doing in front of the masses! Read up on ancient roman occult practices -- this is the type of shit they do! Laugh all you want......like I really give a rats ass what you think!

.

Prince would not be cool with any of this, and if you think for one second that he would.......you never really knew the type of man Prince was!

"why am I insane?" Then talks about demonic and ancient roman occult practices... You're right. I don't know what kind of man Prince was. I met him once and barely said 10 words to him. From what I could gather he seemed like a genuinely nice, funny guy but I'm basing that off of a 60 second meeting with him. I never truly knew him. Maybe he would have liked the tribute or maybe he wouldn't. Or maybe he just wouldn't have given it a second thought, which I think is most likely.

.

What JT did was something that Prince would never do! He didn't want ANYONE projecting his image on-stage and singing along with his vocal track. He thought it was demonic. End of story.

It's a Ben Folds song, and it's a random live cut. Timberlake's name is nowhere near it anywhere except on lyric sites that all copy each other. Ben writes his own music, he certainly doesn't need a random JT song like that. Ben has humor in his music, and this was a live cut with him trying to be funny. Not necessarily my choice of humor, but the truth is JT has nothing to do with it.

From Billboard

Contrary to a report that surfaced after the big game, Whitehouse says there was never a plan to use a hologram to beam the late rock icon into the stadium for the "I Would Die 4 U" virtual duet. "There was no hologram," he says. "It’s impossible to create a hologram in a 360˚ stadium environment. We never contemplated the idea. We were, however, lucky enough that Bruce [Rogers] and Bob [Barnhart] from the halftime team were the creatives who worked with Prince to make the famous silhouette moment happen in Prince’s own [2007] halftime performance."

As the planning started months ago, Timberlake asked for that iconic image as part of the show, and Whitehouse says the process leading up to the big day was firmly focused on honoring and being respectful of one of the greatest halftime performances of all time.

"To make it happen, the halftime team, JT team and Prince estate all worked together to design and facilitate this beautiful tribute," he says. "When it finally came together back in January, we knew that it would be one of the standout moments in the show. The biggest technical challenge was balancing airflow and merging multiple projectors, a silk with projection that large and bright in any stadium is tough, each night at rehearsals it would improve, and finally on game day Bruce and his team nailed it!"

He also pulled back the curtain on one of the most stirring images: what appeared to be most of downtown Minneapolis, bathed in purple lights, with Prince's famous glyph wrapping around the stadium.

"This came from one of those JT genius ideas," he says. "He said to us 'wouldn’t it be amazing if we could light up all of Minneapolis Purple' as we discussed ideas of how to pay a fitting tribute to the city and it evolved from there. As for how we did it, all I'm going to say is it took an amazing amount of effort and co-ordination over many months by Ricky, Hamish, [director] Bruce and Bob in bringing this idea to life and I think they pulled it off in a way far better than we had ever imagined."

Thanks for sharing this it is nice to read their plans but unfortunately the actual execution left much to be desired. It sounds as if there was hardwork and planning. Sometimes Providence takes over. I read they are frustrated after all their hard work the reviews have been mostly negative.

well in conclusion from my pov, seems it be would less of a blatant disrespect and or insult if the person whose likeness was electronically/visually automated either as a holographic image or a video screen for entertainment purposes, the act should be sanctioned by the person before their death.
like for example,
here in California before obtaining ones driver license there is a questionnaire stating that if upon death their body parts can be used/donald surgically to save a life of a living person.
👀
so imo Prince was totally dissed in that he had already expressed his feeling on the subject of being screened and used in a vocal duet after death.
justin knew this and totally ignored Prince's feelings on this issue.

You sure you not blowing this out of proportion from what I read from the question asked to him many years ago. Was that he was speaking specifically of "Holograms"! confused

Filthy is one of my least favourite songs on the album and is not indicative of the type of music which features throughout. Bad choice for a lead single, I think. Montana would have been the better choice.

Forget the hologram drama, Prince fans are still VERY upset over Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl halftime performance ... and it all stems from an interview the Purple One did in 1998.

At the time, Prince sat down with Guitar World Magazine and was asked about the trend of live musicians using technology to duet with someone who had passed away ... think Natalie Cole's version of "Unforgettable" she did with her dad.

Here's what Prince said at the time ...

Guitar World: "With digital editing, it is now possible to create a situation where you could jam with any artist from the past. Would you ever consider doing something like that?"

Prince: "Certainly not. That's the most demonic thing imaginable. Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing... it really is demonic. And I am not a demon. Also, what they did with that Beatles song ["Free As a Bird"], manipulating John Lennon's voice to have him singing from across the grave... that'll never happen to me. To prevent that kind of thing from happening is another reason why I want artistic control."

So, when Timberlake used Prince's voice and image to create a duet -- seems like b]JT did exactly what Prince didn't want.
🤓
virtual reality duets was Prince's angst. Prince didn't want it.
