Why do people think that those who've performed with Prince in the past think those people should do this for free or short money? I don't think it's too much to ask for since most people who go on vacation every year probably spend a couple thousand anyway. So why the angst? It's the same on FB, people saying "oh, I paid $250 for a week of performances by Prince back in 2002". Seriously? These things aren't comparable and no one is gonna pay any amount of money ever again to see Prince live so a ridiculous comparison imo. Take it or leave it...but damn, it's tiresome to see his fans bitching constantly about everything being done to keep PP operational. Would you all be happy if it closed down and had to be sold because people didn't want to pay to support the cost? People don't really think the family should foot the bill, do they? How else will the doors stay open? People need to get a grip and stop complaining all the time about everything. Sorry to rant, but I'm tired of this same scenario played over and over and over. Applause! !!!!! Bunch of whiny wind bags that call themselves fans on here. So disappointed with this place.

Oh I don't know -- only hundreds of museums across the United States - for starters. They should have incorporated it as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit* instead of an LLC.
*Just because a museum is not-for-profit doesn't mean it can't make a profit. It means the profit is reinvested in the museum to support its programs instead of being paid to shareholders.

Awesome/congrats/God bless to those who have access and the ability to afford the price of the ticket, as well as any extra expenses associated with attending the celebration. I personally don't think that it is complaining to state your opinion about the cost, that is just some fan/fams reality, that they do not have that kind of money to spend. Prince attracted a diverse following, and one would assume that would include economic diversity. Yes, PP needs to survive and thrive, but I would hope and pray that someone affiliated with the operation would be sensitive and cognizant of the economic circumstances/status of his diverse fan base and offer options designed to include rather than exclude. Just my opinion.

Since I work Monday - Friday, I'd have to put in for my 2017 vacation time on January 2, 2017 and I'd have to be there all 4 days, so there's the additional airfare, hotel and car rental fees. And there's no way I'd be able to come alone. So my expense is multiplied by 2.. from the get go.
For that kind of money, I really have to ask...is there going to be a SEANCE??? Because the ONLY way I could justify spending that much damn money. I would have to somehow be able to kick it with Prince, himself. IJS!

I'm not ready for this yet. Not sure when I will be but I'm definitely not ready yet, regardless of the price, even if it was free.

Nope. Not at THOSE prices. Prince woud have to perform for those kind of prices. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

It is a advertising gimmick to try to justify the high prices (e.g., you can be among the few elite if you buy these tickets but you better hurry to buy them soon before we run out).

And what would they be doing differently? Do you know who the shareholders of this LLC are and what they're being paid right now? I don't. But I do know Graceland put up the initial funds needed to turn PP into a museum and run the place. I guess I don't understand why all the hate for Graceland as if it's evil or something. Do you really believe at these prices there are people on the fence who bought because the press release said limited supply? Anyway Londell tweeted: L Londell McMillan (@LondellMcMillan) 11/28/16, 9:17 PM #PRINCE WAS ALWAYS MINDFUL OF HIS LOVING FANS AND COSTS 💜 #STAYTUNED I have no idea what he means by "stay tuned". According to Londell himself he's not involved with the museum so I'm not sure why he's inserting himself. Unless PP is planning to offer cheaper options that will be announced soon? But his tweet makes it sound like he personally did something... Paisley Park is in your heart

Ticket booked. If it's anything like the poster it'll be a respectful and tasteful affair. I'm seeing this is a bit of a purple pilgrimage to show respect and give thanks to the man who gave me so much over the last 27 years. It's expensive, but for me, it's worth it. PS- I live in South Africa.

I don't have a problem with the price at all for the number of days it will be. I would also have to factor in airfare, hotel, transportation. The timing is a little off for me, not sure I could get that time off work.
That being said, if my DH can spend over $3k to go to men's fantasy baseball camp for a week (not including airfare) in January, then the Prince Celebration is relatively inexpensive!

I live a half hour away and won't be going at these prices. Even if I started saving now it's not realistic. I have other things in my life that are important to me too - like family vacations for example - that I can't justify putting this amount of money aside for something that is only for my benefit. I'm still trying to recover financially from all the memorial/tribute events I've attended and items I purchased related to these events. In addition to now feeling guilty/anxious about the effect it's going to have on our holiday celebrations this year. So unless they offer something more reasonably priced to attend that week I'm going to have to pass. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Applause! !!!!! Bunch of whiny wind bags that call themselves fans on here. So disappointed with this place. Are you seriously telling me that the people running the Estate don't see a huge money making opportunity from fans they know will want to go to Paisley Park on the anniversary of his death. You can dress it up as a 'celebration' if you want but charging those prices over that weekend is just wrong in my opinion. Taking advantage of grieving fans who feel they need to be there but can't afford it is wrong! The Estate needs to ensure Paisley stays viable all year round, agreed, but they better come up with a better business plan because it won't work if they are going to base it solely around important key dates like April 21 or his birthday. PRNfamily tweeted "A reminder from @prince" which was a short video of Prince and Mel B where he said "I will celebrate my death". I've been a Prince fan for over 30 years and I found that tweet insensitive & taken out of context. To use that video as a way of justifying this 'celebration' was wrong on so many levels!!!

I don't know..I've paid more than this for a weekend to Baltimore..Must figure general admission is $38.50 for 70 mins soooo 1200+ mins (20+ hrs) x $38.50 wld be $660. Hence $500 a bargain? Airfare $300, hotel $400 = $1200 ..Hello, who is it?
Yes, this is a prettyman, Princey!

I have never been to Paisley Park so I am quite keen to go one day. A celebration of sorts does seem quite appealing but I know from working in the theatre industry that you need to market shows well. Its all about the marketing! Now personally seeing this does not make me jump to buy tickets because I saw a few of these bands at the Prince tribute show in London. The organisers need to realise that a Prince fan would have already been to one of the tributes either side of the Altantic and they need to offer something a bit more unique in order to justify the price tag. There's got to a be a limit as to how many times Prince fans will be to see Morris Day and The Time, The Revolution etc in the name of Prince....
From a business point of view they want to make sure they entice you during your pre Christmas spend as in January virtually no one puts shows on sale as people tend to spend in excess during December.
I think I will wait to see what pans out before committing to anything and timewise too - that's four days....They could have just announced a save the date with details and prices to follow but I am assuming that want to get as many advanced sales as possible and gauge interest in the event.

From the reaction here on the board, the entire marketing of this was a huge misfire.
