Yep. I was just there on Saturday (trip to Jim's Apple Barn that just happened to turn into a side trip up to PP), and there were three of us at the fence. Not including the JWs that have set up camp. I would think a temporary order could be put into place until final approval. Prince had to have some type of operating permit to have the PPAD parties and tours. Couldn't that include this?
So frustrating and disappointing for fans who were coming for the opening.

Exactly in no way would the Graceland people put the money up for this if they were not assured that the opening would get started.
This is people on the council sabortaging the project. Which is surprising considering what a good neighbor everyone said he was in Chanhassen. They want to fail because they could allow it temporaily so the three months worth of tickets holders could come out. What a bunch of asshats.

How so he had events at Paisley all the time? So what the hell are you babbling about.

Well I can't find much on the city council website. Seems agendas and minutes haven't been updated since July.
I did find this, it won't let me post the link but I'll type it out.
www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us/2016-24
It was approved on Sept 20 by the planning commission.
It shows the press releases from Bremer, the mayor & the City of Chanhassen.
PP Muesem business plan was put forth on Aug. 19.
This is all on the City, not PP. Place blame on the City.

You're right...he's never cancelled projects, or not come through after he proposed something, or ran his business from the seat of his pants.
What was I thinking....
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yuck - I really don't get all the bureaucracy of it all. . Hope it turns out well and there is a way to have it all approved quickly without another meeting. Good lord. . Strange to note that I was in Chaska, MN this weekend and immediately loved the place decided wow I could definitely move here. Then I kept driving and hit a "Welcome to Chanhassan" sign and felt oh how right this would be haha. Hopefully the city councils in both places aren't dreranged. Would be incredibly disappointing to me.
Edit: add joke: I'm getting Crystal Ball flashbacks.... oh god no.... [Edited 10/4/16 6:01am]

All I can say is call the City Council and voice your concerns. Send emails to all of them. I sent mine a couple hours ago...

PP did submit all the plans as required. The zoning commission approved them and sent it to city council for approval. Does anyone think for one minute that the Estate, Graceland, and all the people involved in trying to get this opened, would have moved forward knowing that it wasn't going to be approved?

My heart goes out to anyone who has been out even 1 cent for this! I cannot imagine how hurt and angry folks have to be. Personally I know that if I was a ticket holder I would not be able to keep from feeling slightly scammed on this matter if The estate and the city did not do something to rectify with those who have been impacted by these developments.

The mayor needs to call a special meeting for TODAY, the sooner the better to give PP permission as a temporary agreement to go ahead and open on time.

If safety is their concern, then it is going to be a lot more unsafe with thousands of fans outside of Paisley Park from Oct 12-15. Hope they figure something out this week.

Noodled24 said: This seems very odd. No, 600K is what Graceland in Memphis gets in a year. I don't think anyone said they were expecting that for PP. In fact last night Graceland said they were scaling back ticket sales and hours of operations because they wanted to walk before they started running. Paisley Park is in your heart

If the vote was 3/2 to not approve it, and there are 4 city council members, did the mayor break the tie and voted to put it off also?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
All I can say is that I'm disappointed in the city. Traveling up there is a significant hardship for my family and we are not likely to get our money back. We would not be going if the tour was not an option. The comment that they 'have only one chance to get this right' is a silly scare tactic.

I drove by PP on my way to work this morning and the parking lot was full of vehicles so they're not stopping any of the work currently being done. I think they will hack to come to some temporary agreement. Piss off these early ticket holders and they probably won't come back. Paisley Park is in your heart

No, one council member voted with the mayor, not because he was in agreement but because he thought 120 days wasn't enough time. Seriously?!? They need more than 120 days to do another traffic study and come up with a solution for fans who want to leave mementos at PP? That's ridiculous. Paisley Park is in your heart

So has there been no official statement from the people who collected the money from the ticket sales? Because that's exactly who I would be real pissed off with right about now. IJS! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Sent mine to. This is what I wrote:
Hello:
I'm one of many out-of-towners who bought tickets for a Paisley Park tour. I was dismayed to hear of yesterday's vote tabling the decision on the facility's museum designation.
I'm hoping you can consider allowing those who already purchased tickets and made arrangements to visit your community to tour Paisley Park (even if the tour times need to be consolidated into more limited hours), while you consider the final status of the museum. Honoring already-sold tickets will extend tremendous goodwill to visitors who are eager to contribute to your community's local businesses.
Thank you for your consideration, [Disch]

Exactly. Also, go take in a show at the Chan Dinner Theater...go to Duluth to see the fall colors.... I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Great! This is what I sent. I hope that we all recieved updates, atleast by noon.
Dear City Council members,
Many of my family members and I planned a trip to Chanhassen for October 5th and 6th to celebrate the opening of Paisley Park. We found out about the opening though the national news media and visited the Paisley Park website to purchase tickets over a month ago. I also booked a hotel room a month in advance, only to find out after 1 A.M. this morning that a late vote had been taken, and the majority of council members decided to delay the grand opening. It would have been less of a disappointment/inconvenience if we could have been notified at least 48 hours in advance. Many people (myself included) have taken time off of work, payed for hotel rooms, flights, rental cars and tickets. All of which are non refundable because of the extremely short notice.
Iām sending this email to politely ask, what can be done? The majority of us can't cancel reservations that have been made in your city because of this very short notice.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone will reply,
(My Name)

.
IMPORTANT PAISLEY PARK UPDATE . The Chanhassen, Minnesota City Council voted late yesterday to table the measure which would have permitted Paisley Park to open as a museum starting this Thursday, October 6.
. I have VIP tickets for November 3 and have already purchased plane tickets, hotel and a rental car. . Unfuckingbelievable. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

So I recieved an email from the Mayor..... I'm so frustrated, I want to cry. Not because i'm sad but because money is so hard to come by. I'm a young college student. I dont have money to throw away. I have no problem with them delaying the opening. Thats FINE. Its the fact that we were notified about this in such a short time & I can't get my money back at all for any of the reservations i've made. IDK man huhhhhhh. *Deep Breaths*
This is the email from the Mayor of Chanhassen

I wonder how many tickets have been sold, and to which days/times (I'm sure most were sold for the tribute weekend). Depending on the quantity, I'm wondering how likely it would be for the council to allow tours just for existing ticket-holders -- I would be OK with them changing (somewhat) the time of my tour if they wanted to consolidate the tours to more limited time blocks. And of course, they would stop selling any more tickets until this s%$-show is resolved. - I'm keeping my fingers crossed they find a way to honor sold tickets (and not just by refunding), but not holding my breath.
