I agree that they should have waited until 2017 (though personally, I would rather celebrate his date of BIRTH rather than commune on April 21st only because I believe Prince would rather his Fams be celebrating him But the fact of the matter is...they DIDN'T wait. They posted it, all over, snag tix, buy accom and travel, order food menu PP add-ons etc, even so much as arranging TV spots for this! I don't think it's the estates fault. The way it sounds is that the Mayor was supporting this, everyone was understanding that they had the go ahead and down to the last mins of the meeting, the council sprung this on them. Awesome thanks for posting this! It's 1:40am here so 2 hours after my bed time since I have to be up in 5 hours but I am glad for the list as I will be firing on all cylindars tomorrow. We ALL need to - show them what an impact this is, to their potential revenue from tourism too. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I just called Dan Campion , one of the city council members . His personal phone number is on the county website. Paisley Park will NOT open this weekend ! I went to the county website , emailed all members of the council, and called them. I spent so much money planning my trip this weekend! Non refundable everything! The following council members are responsible for Paisley Park not opening Bethany Tjornhon, Elise Ryan, and Dan Campion . send your emails to council@ci.chanhassen.mn.us. Mayor Laufenburg phone number (612) 327-6800. I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

Wondering if there is some way for PP to honor the current tickets AND current zoning? Let's not forget - Prince held public events in the space with its current zoning and charged for entry. Perhaps it's just not ready as a "museum".
Otherwise - part of me is cringing at the thought that this may just be a "Kickstarter" gone awry. Or the result of some infighting between the camps. Hope it works out for the best. . [Edited 10/4/16 1:54am]

I've always felt it would be better to wait to buy tickets til later, since any kinks would probably be ironed out by then. But the most important thing, I believe, is that we stay positive. That we be calm and supportive, and helpful in any way we can. Life is full of hurdles, bumps, bruises and the like. I am sure it will all work out in the end.

Prince has the best fans of anyone. It's a testament to who he was, basically a good kid. I know some of us are disappointed and/or have plans shaken up or lost money but let's continue to be respectful to everyone anyway as we deal with all of this. It's gonna be a part of history, you know. Purple Family. WE THE BEST.

I hate to say this, but, in all honesty, Paisley Park themselves are to blame for all this in being TOO hasty in everything and so eager to cash in on their deceased boss, without the final OFFICIAL approval from the City Council first. Paisley Park, like their deceased boss, live in their own world with no regard to officialdom or laws or anything!! They are basically laws unto themselves!! They should be turning around and refunding everyone for everything!!! Also, just like their deceased boss, they are not experts at business and organization!!! Everything was all TOO rushed!!!
In the real world, you cant just build an extension on your home or even build a new home without submitting plans and blueprints to local councils FIRST and then waiting for their approval before you can go ahead(Not sure about the US, but here in the UK this is what has to happen BY LAW). It seems as though Paisley Park were so delusional that didnt feel they had to do anything like that!! You cant just go ahead and do what u like, when u like, where u like, how u like and with who u like in the REAL WORLD!!!
I am just glad that I didnt blindly jump on this museum bandwagon and had the COMMON SENSE to wait a while untill everything was set in stone!!! I live in the UK and I am so glad that I didnt hastily book flights, motel rooms, rented a car, got tour tix, unlike a lot of u guys, who, I am sure, are gonna lose 1000s of dollars!!!
Oh well, I guess u live and learn!!!

Chanhassen city council should have been better prepared earlier, they have known about the planned opening of Paisley Park since at least the middle of August.

http://mn-chanhassen2.civ...px?NID=473 Email your thoughts to members of the council... Here's my note... Regarding your decision to delay the opening of Paisley Park... Bad idea. My family has invested a FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS that are non refundable. We've purchased tour tickets, airline tickets, concert tickets, hotel rooms, etc. And we're coming to your city to spend more. And this is just my family. I wonder how many thousands of people are headed to your city just during the week of the Tribute Concert? Do you really want this to be their perception of your town? What do you think they will do? My point is this: you may think this delay is solving some problem, but you are trading that problem for a much larger one. I hope you and fellow council members understand the gravity of what is happening here. You were happy to collect taxes from this facility and you were happy to collect the taxes from all of the ancillary revenue that was created for your town... for all of these years. Now this? When you are in the national spotlight? Either this is a huge publicity stunt, or you are playing hardball with his Estate to get something that the town wants... Or, you are just not that smart. Not sure why you would allow ticket sales to something that you did not intend to approve. And you absolutely have known of the ticket sales. Would you also allow ticket sales for an advertised and illegal dog fight in your city? It seems that your choices are: approve the opening of Paisley Park, or plan to have thousands of people at your offices during their paid and scheduled tour time, as well as a complete boycott of all businesses in your town. Ask yourself this... Who would actually spend thousands to fly across the globe to tour the recording studio of a deceased musician? Can you imagine the kind of commitment that would take? We're not Millennials. We are adults with education and disposable income. And obviously, we have time to spend. The real question is this. Do you want us happily and peacefully doing what we've already paid to come to your city for, or, do you want us coming to your office to peacefully protest? My advice: Fix it. Quick.

And to everyone here saying "I told you so"... Do better. Don't be mad because you couldn't afford to travel for the tour. If you had the $, you would be in the same position as the rest of us that could afford to do it. Exhibit A? You are posting on a site about a now deceased musician. Don't look down your nose at people who were able to afford what you couldn't. Don't be petty. It makes your ____ shrink. And finally... Shut up already, damn!

The mayor gave to go-ahead a while back. It's not the fault of the estate. Sorry, but that's not how it works. Just because the Mayor likes the idea doesn't mean it shouldn't go through the proper channels of governance. This is firmly the fault of the Estate and their subcontractor (Gravelled). They should have sold tickets when the licences were agreed. Plain and simple. I understand that your pissed off, but trying to blame the officials is not right. Bombarding them and pissing them off is not going to help the estate or fans in the long term. .

Skip the vitriol and venom. Consider using this form letter with your personal details added. Dear sir or madam - Thank you for your time. I have purchased non refundable airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets for the purpose of visiting Paisley Park in Chanhassen, on DDMMYYYY. My receipts currently total $XXXX.00. Like many others, I planned my trip and purchased my non refundable travel after national news media announced the city of Chanhassen approved Paisley Park's use and opening. I found no reports on behalf of the city of Chanhassen contradicting the national news media. Today I learned the city council has decided to not allow entry into Paisley Park. I am writing to ask how might Paisley Park and the city of Chanhassen work together to honor the current tickets AND current zoning? I am uncertain of the technical requirements that define a museum facility. However, let's not forget - Prince held many large public events in the space with its current zoning and he charged for entry. Thank you for your time and consideration, YOUR NAME HERE
