Headline is a little mis-leading. Everyone on the city council was in favor of it but just need a lot more information before approving. What were they doing the last 2 months? Why were none of these questions being asked before tonight? So what happens now? Do people get their money refunded? And those who were hired I guess won't be employed now? What a mess.

Just saw this a few minutes ago, was wondering when it'd make its way here...

I'm very disappointed, this seems sloppy and is reminiscent of the tribute concert ordeal. Not sure why they'd have begun selling tickets without making sure everything was in place. I can only hope tickets can still be honored at a later date, will get refunded, or that by some chance things fall back into place and Paisley goes forward and opens.

Refunds aren't likely, going by Paisley's website. confused

A lot more information still required when it is set to supposedly open in three days? What about the fams literally ON their way there now?! Exactly how long does it take for the proposal that we have ALL read to by now....actually be read by them ?! It makes no sense that they open ticket sales on something that has not been approved. (however, sounds familiar hey?! Like promoting U.S. Bank Event...BEFORE they actually secured the damn thing. #Absurd!

IF they don't refund the THOUSANDS of people $$$ - they will lose opportunity for re-peat cx. You want me to PAY now, and NOT go in...but want me to 'Come Again' - HELL NO! hmph!

And completely agree. Same as I just mentioned, U.S. Bank Chaos all over again.

I blame the city, especially the mayor. Obviously Bremer and Graceland were lead to believe this would be approved and the city council meeting was just a formality. That certainly was not the case. Why did city council members wait until today to ask for more detailed plans?

Like I said I blame the city and the mayor. No way would Bremer and Graceland have announced a date, put tickets on sale and hired staff if there was a chance it wouldn't be approved.

WTF? Seriously? I have tickets myself for later in october -- and of course, plenty of people have tickets for the weeks before that.

-

Is there any online article yet about this? Is the ability to start the tours dependent on a "yes" vote?

-

Edited to add: Here's what the Star-Tribune is saying: "The Chanhassen City Council voted Monday night to table a zoning request that would allow Paisley Park, Prince's recording studio and home, to reopen as a museum. The action is certain to delay the previously announced Oct. 6 opening.

The Council voted 3 to 2 to table the rezoning request after more than three hours of discussion by council members and emotional comments from fans and residents."

I haven't seen any articles, this is from those that were watching the council meeting. This is going to have AWFUL reprecussions. And sadly, it's going to cast an ugly shadow over Paisley Park. This isn't how this should be unfolding. disbelief

THOUSANDS of fans are parading to MPLS and Paisley Park in the next week/two to pay respects to and celebrate Prince. If they do not refund the money, those are thousands of people who aren't going to cough it up again. I for one wouldn't. I planned to not watch the interview next week so that I won't have the tour spoiled but heck, if it's all going to be 'out there' . And if they intend to keep everyones $$$ due to their 'fine print'.... mad censored

I don't even personally care about a refund! I have a plane ticket to MPLS at the end of this month and touring PP is a MAJOR part of my trip! This seriously sucks and they should not have been selling tickets until everything was totally buttoned up.

-

Fingers crossed, they can resolve this really, really quick and at least the people who are in MPLS for the tribute show will still be able to visit PP as planned.

How is it that the city council didn't have a list of demands and/or questions they needed answered before they would approve this? It's not like this is something they just found out about yesterday. Why are all these questions about traffic and pedestrian safety just coming up now?

It should be both. And certainly can be. It's 55,000 square feet... The tour only goes through a minor sliver of PP.

Whatever ensures the longevity of PP. For Prince's Legacy to live ON.

Paisley Park opening likely delayed: Chanhassen City Council tables rezoning

Paisley Park in July 2016 (Jay Gabler/MPR)

.

A wrench has suddenly been thrown into plans to open Paisley Park to the public this week. The Chanhassen City Council voted tonight to table a motion to rezone Princeโ€™s studio and home for use as a museum, after several residents expressed concerns over safety and traffic and wondered whether this month is generally too soon after Princeโ€™s death to open Paisley Park to the public.

Weโ€™ll update this post as more information becomes available.

They have until Dec. 23? So I guess any of us who had tickets before that can just kiss those plans goodbye.

-

Honestly, how f'ed up is this? Who is it who green-lit the promotion and ticket sales -- let alone the hiring of tour guides and staff, who are now out of work -- if there was any doubt about the approval?

I wonder how other local businesses or organizations can be compelled to speak out on this, like chamber of commerce or whatever. Tons of businesses stand to lose money from a delay. The transit issues were already resolved with off-site parking and shuttle service. The members opposed wanted to delay this so they held on to their "concerns" until it was too late to address them. Good luck with your BS when it gets called out on the Today show at the top of every hour.

Obviously they were lead to believe it would be approved. I watched the city council meeting. Graceland said they cut way back the number of tickets being sold and the hours of operations. They made it clear they were trying to walk before they ran. What I don't understand is how is it that the city council members had so many questions? Considering the city council meeting was so close to opening day I just assumed this meeting was more of a formality. Obviously not. Why wasn't this stuff addressed before now? The way some of the city council members spoke you'd think they didn't know anything about this and tonight was the first time they were hearing about any of these plans. I blame the city because if there was doubt about getting this approved I don't think Graceland would have started selling tickets and hiring staff. What a mess.

This is all BS. Obviously the mayor and/or city council were made aware of the date Bremer and Graceland wanted to open. Why didn't they say at the time it was too soon and they needed more time and then provide Bremer and Graceland a detailed list of everything they would need addressed in order for them to approve? It's complete BS that none of these questions came up until 2 days before scheduled opening.

Well we know where the mayor stands. Is it typical for a mayor and city council members to not be in agreement?
