October 12/13 in MPLS for tribute event. Purple Fam get togethers? Hello! I am coming in from Vancouver and was thinking it could be cool for those interest in get togethers. I am going to reach out to a single plex theatre in the area to see if either by chance will be playing Purple Rain/UTCM or SOTT - maybe on the 12th at night (weekends are usually harder so hoping mid week would be groovy). Would there be people in town or coming into town that would be interested in something like that? Please let me know here. If we have decent numbers then I suspect we can convince one of them to hold something like that for us
Otherwise if numbers are smaller, was thinking of a Purple Fam dinner? Again let me know if you are interested so I can get an idea of numbers!

It will be my first time to Minneapolis so I'm just now checking flights...id be down for a meetup anywhere. Also where is everyone staying? If I secure tickets, I plan on going to pp ..of course and exploring Princes home town he loved so very much. I did send a message. wouldnt it be great if we could volunteer in some capacity? Hey there, I'm thinking of going as well. Coming from South Fl, and it will be my first trip to Minneapolis. I have been a sometime poster ( on my first screen name ) but LONG time lurker since the early 2000's. I never made it out to paisley park and am so damn sad that it will finally happen under the worst possible circumstances. 😠To be honest, I am still grieving so hard and am still so shocked and can't quite believe that this has really happened. But it has and I really need to do this to have some closure and too say goodbye to one of the 3 most important men in my entire life  I was devastated for months and months after it happened and did not get to attend the tribute nights and movie screenings. It was all too much grief for me to take while people were partying and seemingly "celebrating" while I felt like my first LOVE had passed away and I didn't know why. I was afraid of hysterically crying in public and making a fool out of myself. But Its finally getting a little bit easier to at least try to honor his life and remember the pure and utter JOY that him and his music always gave me. But on a lighter note, I have always wanted to go to one of the orgs's famous "invasions". I have laughed and cried along with all of you and it will be so nice to put faces to some of the names I have been following along all these years. This "invasion" won't be as joyful as the rest but there is nobody else I would rather be there with than my ORG family  I am thinking of going from Oct 13th thru 16th, hoping there will be a few events to attend that weekend due to the official tribute show being the 13th (maybe a prince dance party at first ave, PR screening Ect...) and want to make a pilgrimage of course to Paisley, lake Minnetonka, and do some touristy things (mall of America, Ect...) Hopefully I can swing it, would love to meet everyone.  | |

I'll be with family, but from what the others here are suggesting is to stay in Downtown Minneapolis as opposed to Chanhassen. Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince |

I'll be there from Thusday noon until Monday morning. Even though the event is downtown, I would prefer to stay in Chanhassen because that's where Prince called home for the last 35 years (except for the time he was in LA). I remember visiting his Purple house there 30 years ago before the peace symbols got added to the gate. Someone posted that it's easy to take Lightrail from the Mall of America, so I will probably drive the 20-30 minutes to Bloomington and take the Lightrail to US Bank stadium. | |

If I can get tix, I'm in. Maybe staying with a friend's family, otherwise somewhere convenient to public transit. Coming in from ct on Wednesday, leaving Sunday... Or thereabouts. I'm a noob to the org but would love to meet up.

I'm in for whatever! It would be great to meet up with other org'ers and not feel like people think I'm crazy and overreacting to this whole nightmare. I'm from the cities so can make pretty much anything work. I've been keeping my eyes open to see if Chase & Ovation might be playing locally that weekend. They are an amazing (local) tribute band with actual ties to Prince. They're great musicians and are true to P's music and message and it would be a fun meet-up. They play pretty regularly at Bunker's. U can be the side effect, I'd rather be the dope. |

Oh wow, yes please keep an eye on that! That would be great to check out! And I completely understand, would be really great to be around people who get it. I try not to bring up Prince around my bestie too much because even though she's been super and attending Prince events around town with me I am starting to get that feeling like she's wondering where am I moving on. I just don't know. Looking forward to meeting you all. I am off this upcoming week and will have some time aside to look into this. I feel Monday is a good day to reach out to these places and see what the scoop is Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I haven't heard a peep yet. I have a friend that has season tickets to the Vikings and they are supposed to get first crack at tickets for other events. I've totally hit him up and basically promised him everything under the sun if he can score me some. I'm worried that this concert might be exempt from this though. He's been checking into it but not been able to find anything out, which worries me. I hope they give us some advance notice (unlike the Revolution concerts at First Ave...)

I am renting a car to go out to Paisley Park and see Lake Minnetonka (Henderson, Hwy 19) area...and Mall of America. All the other things I wanna see are close to downtown (Purple Rain house, 1st ave, and other prince attractions!!)

Woohoo! I suspect once people confirm tickets, we will start seeing more people want in. I am going to search if there is like...a hard rock cafe or something in the area that might do reservations. Something fun like that for a group dinner Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

I will actually be booking my stuff by the end of this week, need to confirm a few things to see if I want to add an extra night - was originally going to fly back Friday night, but I have a sneaking suspicion that would be when some other events could take place. I mean, if i were them - establishments in the area - I would rig my schedule/events to coordinate, right? So might have to add an extra night...only thing is - not sure if my best friend wants to watch my cat for THAT long. Will talk to her Friday, then start booking Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.
