MANCHESTER PRE GIG MEET UP...[Prince & 3EG u r welcome to come join us!]

O.K., so now that the dust has settled & a lot here have tix & I think some great connections made between orgers lets sort a meet up via 1 neat thread.

Obviously need to be at the doors of the Academy at c6pm ish so how about meeting at say 3ish, gives time for people to come into town, check into hotles ,no panic, chilled etc.

WAnyone who I 've given my number to just drop me a text or reply here. Really looking forward to meeting as many of u as possible!

TOP SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

Personally i think anywhere on Deansgate [around Kendals dep't store] as its easy to find.

Mods it would be great if u can keep this thread here until Thursday!

Prince & the girls if u turn up we'll buy the 1st round of drinks!

That would cool !

I have been to Manchester twice but have no idea where the venue is

I am staying around Oxford Street so is that a good area for food and beers?

I have no idea!!!

Suggest somewhere near city centre end of Oxford rd, maybe Gorilla, Black Dog Ballroom or Odder? From there it's just under 20min walk to the Academy.

The venue is just on Oxford road a little out the centre, plenty of bars around for food and things, revolution etc... Alot of student bars too with it being a student area.

There's a great little pub right next to the venue called Big Hands.

Just a quickie, I live off Deansgate, on a Fri & Sat night in most of the places its designer gear or you dont get in. Oxford road is cheaper in the student bars or obviously canal street which is mixed/gay theres no dress code. (and closer) I missed out on a ticket and im so sad sad , but I wouldnt want to put my best shoes on going to the the Academy, but you have to to get into bars on Deansgate, or Deansgate locks. The Academy is quite small, its not a dive but not posh either. There are sooo many great places here in Mancs. Deansgate is for people all dressed up. (mostly).

nah, can start off at Deansgate & work our way down to Oxford road [10 min walk!] OR start at Oxford road & work our way along up to the venue!! I think Oxfrd road will be a good starting point for everyone as suggested by some.

I think this is the one for me and mine. Thanks pacey68. There also appear to be a large pub called The Oxford about 5 minutes walk away which looks reasonable. As others have said, I would also stay away from Deansgate, and get yourselves within a hop, skip and a jump of the venue. Got to make sense!

OXFORD ROAD is looking fave for everyone! , lets pick a venue to start with - The Oxford sounds good & based on its name alone The Big Hands!!!. Maybe meet around 2 or 3ish?

Right next question..what time do we go & queue up?, is 6pm too late?, maybe be at the door for say 5.30? Any ideas?

I've got a ticket for Saturday (nr 874) so I'd be up for meeting up
What time do u think it'll actually start?
.
Also do u think they'll have 2 queues for tickets and people paying in? You can see people without tics getting there proper early but would that then guarantee them the best specs?

Im hoping they will have a box office for queuing for tickets? However im not sure on this, I cant imgine the queue will be the same queue as the people with tickets getting in. Hope not.

more the merrier. If coming by Train grab a cab from Piccadilly station & ask to go to Oxford road, i suspect the big pub The Oxford is looking favourable at present as it's near to the venue say about 2 / 3 ish?

I am sure by tonight we will have a definite venue sorted!!!

I'm coming too!!!!! Mega excited smile smile

Happy to meet up once a venue has been agreed...........

What do people think about the fact that there are some tix avail on the door??

Does this mean there will be a huge Q (of people trying to get the door tix)?

Worried that even tho I have a ticket, that I will be at the back of a HUGE Q & once they sort out how many they are going to let in (ie tix on the door) that once in the venue, will be right at the back or worse still (for me as I'm driving straight home) that they don't let me in the first show & might do a second show?

Am I worrying too much? Yes prob....... sad

Thanks to funkyhead I'm now going I can't tell you how happy I am. I would love to get as close as possible to the little guy but with it being small venue think it's going to be great everywhere.

7 years since I've seen him way too long

I've been to the venue a number of times and it's very very dark and can get very hot as well.

No that I'm encouraging people to go in less clothes or anything lol

Look forward to meeting fellow fans.

I'd imagine ticket holders will get priory, of you would hope, I have a suspicion that tickets on the doors might mean they will be for a 2nd show. I've seen people with ticket numbers over 2000 which woudl mean between 500-600 on the door and without them saying how many excatly are on the door if that is the case 1000's could potentially turn up

the obvious place for a meetup is the closet pub to the venue that will be open. so does anyone know where that is? if there are loads of pubs around, then the biggest one nearby is prolly best. like a weatherspoons chain bar. then it's easy to meet people in line or around the venue and take them up the road or across the road instead of walking for 10 minutes elsewhere. that will put poeple off

there is Big hands, Kro Bar (Maybe 2 Kro bars) Ford Maddox Brown (Weatherspoons)

Quite alot around it actually, typical student area, most will be open from 11-12 ish

so those bars are just outside the venue? what's the biggest one, or if they are about the same size, what's the best one? you are prolly best to narrow down to a suitable venue if you know the location

What time do u reckon the concert will start unique?
Do u think people will be queuing early doors even tho they have tickets?

Clare

I have just spoken to Ticketline Customer Services to ask whether there would be two queues for the gigs, for those with and without tickets. She said yes because the tickets will be sold from the box office which is away from the main entrance to the venue. But she also said that only 50 tickets will be available on the door and people are queuing already!

Feeling very very lucky to have tickets.

doors at 7pm for 8pm show was EB and koko. it could be a bit later like 9pm as nearly twice as many people to get in, and if curfew is 11pm (someone should check this), it means a single 2 hour show. people will line up early with tickets to get front row, or just cuz they like standing behind me
