I also hear the event promoter is connected in some way with an old Prince related act from Minneapolis.

I'll kick myself if I don't go and hear that I missed a special guest or something...

Anyone interested in getting tickets at less than half price - £4 each - will need to take themselves to the Prince meet-up on Thursday 11th September 2008. Look far a guy called Carl (probably in a suit, as he won't have had time to go home and change). The monthly Prince meet-up is taking place at:

Carl will only be at the Horse & Groom between 7pm & 7:45pm as he also has to attend a gig elsewhere, with the next 'Amy Winehouse' (no kidding). If you miss him you're welcome to make your way to the Windmill on Cricklewood Broadway before 11:30pm where he will be probably singing a Marvin Gaye cover or two. But please don't leave this event early just to get a ticket. Ladymisskat has all of his contact details so if you get in touch with him on his mobile on that day I'm sure he'll sort out some means of getting a ticket to you.

The reason for the door price of £10 for the event on 17th is to keep the potential trouble away from the venue (not that all Michael Jackson fans are prone to acts of impromptu public plastic surgery). If we have good numbers, £4 should cover the cost of the band. My love of all that is Prince means that I have forked out for everything else including unbelieveable prizes.

THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED

I wasn't able to post this message earlier because I was managing another event last night which I only got home from at 4am this morning only to leave for work at 7am this morning.

We will be holding a soul and funk night at the venue on that date instead with free entry (no prizes). If there is an obvious Prince following in the audience the DJs will play a large percentage of Prince & Prince related music to make up for the fact that we have cancelled the event.

However, the band had to know for certain by today and I couldn't guarantee that there would be enough of a turnout to raise the funds to pay them.
