Wireless systems

Hey everybody! It's been awhile but I'm still around. :+) I was looking at in the near future getting a wireless guitar system, maybe mic and in ear monitor too. My father actually has a Nady wireless mic but I haven't listened to it in a LONG time. I forgot if it sounds decent or not. It's probably at least 7 or 8 years old. Anyway, I might even use that for vocals but what about guitar and monitor? I was pretty surprised that I didn't see a wireless pack that has guitar AND in ear monitor capabilities. Does anybody know of a good one that has such a feature? I'm sure they're fine and happy with making you buy 2 seperate systems and all. :+P
It just sucks having to buy and wear 2 packs.
If you know ANYTHING about this stuff, please let me know. I just started looking at them and I'm not sure which ones have the sound quality and which are good for the $. What really sucks is that I can't find any place to try them out. If I could find a good guitar/in ear monitor package for around $300-$450 I'd be happy. I'm willing to spend up to $600 if I can find a package that's worth it. Maybe even something that can run 2 instruments at the same time and I'll split the cost with my cousin. :+) Thanks everybody in advance and TAKE CARE!

I have been watching this thread because I am in about the same boat. Looking at wireless stuff. Here's what I know. Anyone can add to it.

Gutiars: I have an old system as well. A Nady 201. Its sounds fine for acoustic guitar because its really crisp and clean. Almost too much so for electric. When I use it on my electric it looses some oomph and grit somehow... I think my pedals react to it differently than a cord. But that being said the slight sonic compromise (say 5%) is more than made up for by the freedom of movement. So I still use it sometimes but it is old technology and I'd like to get something new and better.

Ear Monitors: First you don't want a system that will carry the guitar and monitors at the same time, I don't think. That's why they don't make them. What if you have to change guitars and you take off your instrument while its still hooked up to your ears? You'd pull them out of your head if you forgot! Better to keep the systems separate I think.

Also regarding in ears I am most hesitant to invest in them for this reason- I think they will be alot more work. I play in a small band, in small clubs and we often do our own sound and the vocals are usually the only thing in the monitors. The guitars, bass, drums, etc are not usually in the monitors. So to pipe them to us via in-ears I'd have to mic MORE things and spend MORE time setting stuff up. Plus I'd probably need someone to make monitor mix ajIs it worth it? I don't know.

Then again I've heard some people say they don't really block that much out so you could just have the vocals in there and be fine... if so that would work for me. Wish you could rent the damn things in my area and try them out!! =)

Input?

Thanks for the info. I guess that's my biggest problem, I can't find a place to actually try out wireless systems. I still think a in ear monitor/guitar pack could work if designed properly. =^) You leave the pack on a just unplug your guitar and you can switch to another guitar. Frequencies shouldn't be a problem either. They can work with 2.8Ghz or even 5.8Ghz frequencies. Oh well, I have this show coming up but the more I think about it, I think I'm just gonna stay corded for now. =^)

Speaking of falling off stage... I recently had a friend tell me that she jumped off stage during a show. Then when she tried to get back on stage, she noticed that there weren't any steps or a ladder. She was wearing a short skirt and some guys "volunteered" in helping lift her back on stage. =^P Anyway, this next gig will be in a "pit", not so much a stage. =^) TAKE CARE EVERYBODY!
