Countrified "Sometimes It Snows In April"

www.funkmusician.com/april.mp3

artist08: Here's my acoustic tune. Yeah, it was sposed to be a medley of sorts, but I got on a roll with this one song, took it over to country land, a little bit, and then, there's spots where I'm all ham-fisted on the guitar and my voice is crizzy, but, give it a lissen.

I chose this song because my girlfriend/best friend died of Leukemia about a year before this song came out, so it's always got a special place in my heart.

And yes, I never knew the line about hypnotized something or other before - I always used to mumble that line. You know how it is... "heeee used to say to strong woowo unafraid to die then he left me and a left me wintersized...."

edit:
so sure enough, I played it all the way through, to the delicate ending, and a DAMN JET LINER FLIES OVER HEAD.

what a pain.

Thanks! The vocals are making me wince now. I might go back and polish up a few painful spots.

Sounds good Otan!

I'm working on updating things around my pad, better computer, DSL, etc. I can't wait to hit you guys with some of my stuff!

I do this song, but more Cure-y. You're right, yours is pretty country sounding. Which is not a bad thing.

Well, well, well...what can I say? It's dope. Sounds great. I love how you made it a bit more upbeat and the finger picking is cool, too. Was this done live or what? Hey Styles...where's yours, bro?

Thanks! (I think). Artist08 - unfortunately, no, it's not all one take. I ran through it about 5 times trying to get it right and finally decided, what the hell am I doing? I've got a multitrack recorder! The foot tapping? That's even a separate take... only cuz I'd play, and then drop out the tapping, and then come back in, and, oh, whatever.

I'm going to go back and redo the vocals. When I've got the time. That'll be, what, 2921?

Funny thing about the foot tapping....

I did something just like that a couple of weeks ago on a tune that I haven't posted
here yet and you're right! Its weird to concentrate on a take and do that at the same time...
I still dig what you're doing there!

I love your voice. You've got a really great voice.

There's some weird compression thing going on with your vocals but this is great.

It's called hella-compression.

Or - no - it's me riding the volume slider in certain spots where I'm belting it out without thinking about mic proximity, compression, dynamics etc... I tend to get overexcited when I'm singin. Control. That would be my biggest flaw in life. It's certainly not my ego.

HAHAHAHA.

Thanks for the props y'all. I'll tell Prince you said hey.
