Acoustic P Medley - (update) the challenge!

Go listen to the acoustic P medley that I did. There was a couple of glitches with my Zoom mrs-1044, but I wasn't re-recording that shit over again. One take was enough for me. Just a rough idea of some shit that I do when I'm playing my acoustic gig. Yep, people just stare and wonder what I'm thinking, but, oh well. Listen and give me feedback. This medley features TC, SISIA, LRC, DMB, SAIMH, SAC, RB, and WDC. Enjoy!

Thanks!! Normally if I was playing somewhere I wouldn't try to squeeze 8 songs into a medley - probably more like three.

I played 'Do Me, Baby' in a coffee shop a few months back and told this woman that it was for her. After the chorus I stopped and said, 'I'm sorry...is that too sexy for you?' and went into Raspberry Beret. Lately, when I play in bars I bring these Prince karoake CDs with me and sing Pop Life, Darling Nikki, The Beautiful Ones, Let's Go Crazy and P Control. It's a blast, but people, especially rednecks, look at me a little funny. lol

Anyone else listen to this yet? I must take this opportunity to offer the challenge to everyone - come up with your own Prince medley. The rules: must be 3 or more songs and you must accompany yourself with just acoustic guitar or piano. No drums or synths and minimal overdubs. Do it!

Two things

1. You put in the "Ooh-ooh-oah" from the muppet version of Starfish and Coffee!

2. The screaming towards the end of WDC... i couldn't help but notice how much this sounds like Yoko Ono's early work. which is a good thing! now i think about it i've never heard a man do her trademark vocalisations, only the b-52's and cyndi lauper... it's very interesting hearing it done by a masculine voice.

Mr.Squiggle - thanks for your comments. Yep, I like the other versions of Starfish AND Dorothy Parker better than the originals. And, I've never heard being compared to Yoko Ono a good thing...hahahahaha.

Cool man, that's something I can't do, play the guitar and sing to it. I do play Prince songs on the piano sometimes, my favorites are Adore and Raspberry Baret. The latter I can sing and play together, whoohoo!!! lol

If I'm in the mood, I might try to record some of that stuff, although I'm a terrible pianist....
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Sounds great - what did the machine do?

I'm totally up for the challenge - except all my crap is stuffed in boxes, trying to sell the house. If I can break it all out, I'll whup it up!

How many vocals am I allowed? I hear TWO on yours!

Hiya dude, did you layer the guitar on the Cross? i.e. that Asianesque riff ontop of the strumming? If not, I'd lurve to know how you did it!

I like the chords you use for Do Me Baby, and the ones for WDC are definitely original but I DO DIG!

Thanks for the responses. I've been away for the last 5 days. Anyhow, I did overdub the guitar riff on the first snippet and did double the vox (since Otan always suggests this). Otan - for some reason the Zoom occassionally gets some sort of glitch where other tracks leak through from elsewhere or the timing gets screwed up. I don't know why. Does it have anything to do with the memory? Marc, do it anyways, dude - I have a feeling you'd make a kick-ass medly. Thanks, Vina, PP4, Tal, Taureau...
