Yes, but not every flanger will replicate that EXTREME sound of Prince's. The only 2 flangers I've heard that can replicate that sound are the Boss BF-3, which has a pretty cool, extreme setting that captures that, and the Pearl Flanger. A buddy of mine had a Pearl Flanger during the 1980s, and it was a BEAST!!!! They pop up on eBay, from time to time. I'm going to save my pennies for that BF-3 and get it this year, God willing.

Pearl Flanger eh? I'll check it out.
I've tried numerous Boss BF flangers and it's not as extreme as
his. I got pretty close with the Line 6 modulation pedal- but the feedback is not as
loud and/or intense as his are. How many flangers must one go through to find the
sound????

if you`re using the Boss Flanger.....
set up as Guitar-Distortion-Flanger-Amp so the distortion is being flanged rather than the other way round.
if you hit the D harmonic on the g string,3rd fret, you`ll get the exact feedback from Computer Blue.

Hey... I just remembered...

On the 'Live At The Aladdin' DVD you get a pretty good look at Prince's pedal board and you can see the flanger settings. Go check it out! wink
