I still wear my index fingers out to that song. DO you play a full arrangement or just the lead line on the chromatic (black keys)? There's not a lot going on during the verses. [This message was edited Fri Mar 5 8:22:31 2004 by GaryMF]

Notice I said "I wear my index fingers out", implying incorrect fingering. I was being silly. I remember way back when that song came out, a lot of us in band would sit around the piano and bang away to that tune until the teacher came in. One day, the teacher showed us how it was played correctly and I remember it being more complex than just "the black keys". All Rights Reserved. |

Yeah of course the song is more complex, but the melody really is pretty simple. The chord progression is fairly simple... but the first part of the verse doens't have much going on. Even when you hear it live..... it's mostly the bass during the first lines of the verse... It's not till "she's got... big thoughts, big dreams, and a big brown mercedes sedan" that the chords get interesting. At least that's how I look at it. WHen I try to play it myself, it always sounds kinda weird until that part where the progression comes in.

i read an interview with Brett Anderson from Suede,he said one of his favourite albums of all time is ATWIAD,he had the sheet music for it and still couldn`t work it out.since then i`ve been looking for it everywhere,to no avail. Moderator | here go:
Prince's 1991 hit 'Gett Off' is 'gr8 4 flute' - we've included the original and an octave lower in case you find it too high. The main thing here is to make sure you really do miss the first beat -stamp your first or give a James Brown grunt on the downbeat before coming in on beat 2! http://www.8notes.com/scores/556.asp All Rights Reserved. |
