What with the Grammy's funk celebration an'all... I hope the funk isn't gonna be falsified and manipulated as yet another commercial commodity by the majors, resulting in a whole bunch more plastic monkeys, this time in flares, laying shapes in harmony to cliched funk beats, while bastardising the hell outta lyrics sung with the same castrated sterility as the last group off the pap production line.
I hope rather that the kids sitting in front of the box at home with their guitars, keyboards, drums, sax, spoons, just so happen to be sipping some Pepsi while Prince, the Doctor and Bootsy attempt to reprogram their synapses. Thought I'd share this. ..... BULLSEYE!

I was thinking that the New Funk Order must be right on time then!
But, I do see what you are saying. I hope it doesn't become sterile. The music industry doesn't focus on music anymore. When you see behind the scenes stuff on MTV, it's always about dance steps and make-up. Sometimes you get people talking about the music that they wrote (if it wasn't 4 other people doing it for them) and see recording studio footage or rehearsal/performance clips of the stars playing an instrument and actually makeing music. That seems to be sooo rare now.
