And thanks to all of you who responded. I didn't really mean for this to be a "lets make Vina feel better" thread, I was hoping to hear other peoples critc stories and feel better that way, lol. But I really do appreciate the kind words and encouragement.

I listened to my tracks last night and they are pretty damn good! My newer stuff is better quality than my older stuff, production wise. So that just means I'm gonna keep getting better. The most important thing for me has always been the emotion. I feel it and I want you to feel it. BUT, I know not everyone is gonna feel it. Just like in everyday life, not everyone understands my emotions and thoughts. So what? They go their way and I go mine.

I never replied because, well, I've only ever gotten feedback a couple of times, and those were great...well, great as in constructive, so I don't have any experience in this...at least not in terms of any music I've created. If I get faced with shit comments like that then I normally try to get it substantiated, otherwise I slam it back in their face. I'll be submitting a track to soundclick very soon, and the thought of being subjected to this 'faceless' criticism is a bit scary. At least here we can have a highly constructive, taditional org flaming bitch-slap session over the quality of our art, but it seems the reviewing on soundclick is like that of Amazon, where you can have fantastic retards panning great works of art and writing any shit because their totally anonomous and they don't have to face up to anyone. Don't let it get you down babe! You're 'children' are pure and perfect!

Remember that without people like us, critics would have no job.

We all get bad reviews & I just try not to take em to heart. If the person is being constructive then I dont mind at all but you do get the odd asshole that just wants to bring you down & has nothing nice to say, I ignore these. Thats what I like about this forum, I dont think Ive ever had a review here, good or bad that I didnt agree with.

The ones I really hate are the ones who clearly have no musical knowlege aside from whos winning pop idol whos only critisism is that your not lowering the standards of the world like the rest of the simon cowell & the likes.

That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger. There is/was a distributor in Frankfurt, Germany that told me flat out.. "Your music doesn't convince us". They passed on my label's releases and I simply told them thank you. I was breaking inside because this was a distributor that I respected and admired. They influenced my sound. Convinced that they were dead wrong, I bought a ticket to Germany and sold direct to as many shops as I could find.

To sum it up, I was right because I am now being distributed successfully by another company in Offenbach.

In my rant I forgot what the moral was but just keep doing what you're doing. Don't let some bitter reviewer who probably can't even find Middle C on a keyboard stop you.

Anyway. What is the worst review you've gotten? AND do you wonder if your friends are telling you you're good just because they are your friends?

The worst I have ever gotten was on the groove that later became the "nevergonnaletyoumakemehatemyselfagain" collaboration with otan. It did hurt a little, but these comments were so vile and non-constructive I could easily put them aside as written by "negative hating assholes".

The most constructive reviews I've gotten were by Otan, I guess. And yes, sometimes I wonder if my friends (be it over here or in real life) just say nice things about my music because the are my friends. I'd rather have have some honest criticism than "asskissing", although I can understand why people would do that.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
