Dance Electric is THE BOMB.

Don't care if you got Prince or Andre's version - I'm talking about the music. The synchopated echo on the claps, and (for me) especially the rhythm guitar - OFF THE HOOK. Specially at the very end where Prince is WORKING the guitar chops.

I've been digging this tune all day, wishing I could pull something like this off. Not the lyrics - (tho, they is coo)but the driving groove, no breaks, no nothing except a killer non-stop drive.

Almost like it's one of his first explorations into loops - the drums just loop forever.

Prince is just brilliant.

definite. I wonder what kinda trip he was having when he was making that song. it was more than just being in a state of making a song, that man was having a spiritual trip!

I have always wanted to do a cover version of this. "Dance Electric" is one of my favorite songs, probably in my top 10 favorites of all time. The lyrics are right up my alley. Calling the United States "Babylon", calling the world a "rhythm-less house of blinded prophecy", saying the "light of truth" will one day shine...

MAN, this was written YEARS before I started reading the Bible in depth. This is very cool!

Peace,
JD

Wow JD, you're right - I never thought about it, but definitely - this is exactly like your stuff! Do a cover - I'd love to hear it.

Thanks, Beau, I think I will do a cover of the song in the next year. I hope Prince don't mind.

Peace,

I buy this joint everytime I see it. Surprisingly, I've found a couple in $1.00 and $.50 bins. It's coming up on twenty years and it still smokes.

its so brilliant!

its so close to his sweet spot in groove terms. the drums funk totally, then the guitar comes in over the minor 7th chord (the low level analog keyboard padding), the timbre is perfect is every instrument.

I agree with the girls backing, perfectly weighted and the pace of the tension of the overall track, as always with prince, builds with the layering of the instruments.

One of my favs. (((thats why im here!)))
