New Year's Eve, 2001.

See photo in my profile. We owned the joint, I played with a wireless on the bar, on tables, outside. My best friend sat in on Congas, and the songs turned out great (recorded it).

Edit:
Okay, looking at the photo, I notice that the people seem to be oblivious to my amazing soloing, but, um, that's because, uh, when the photo was taken, I told everyone to look away. Yeah. That's it.

Dude they cloud up and it's like having a sauna just for your eyes... they're air tight. After that gig, I never wore em again. Gave them away. Otherwise, I'd send them to you.

This last summer my band burly played in front of a 1,000+ crowd... It was the shit...We opened for this band that has had all kinds of success across the midwest opening for bands like the GOO GOO DOLLS, Neil Young, and countless other national acts, and they have a huge following in our area...Personally I'm not into them, but hey. They're called Kory and the Fireflies...

They invited us to play, and we didn't think there was going to be anyone there to see us, since the other band was so popular, but there were like 1,000 plus people there and they were all screaming for us and giving us high fives and free beer and shit. I felt like frickin' bon jovi or something. It was great...Also, over thanksgiving we played for around 300 peoples in our home town, which was cool...

But I think the tightest gig we've ever played was at the Ranch Bowl in omaha, nebraska last weekend in front of like 10 people...heheheh The irony...One of the most prestigous clubs we've played(besides 7th st./1st ave) and there were only 10 peeps and we did lots of promotion..

And otan, I hear you about the bono shades...I've worn them before and they fucking suck. Only I figured out before I went on stage that they were fogging up, luckily...

peace folks,
zach

Hey I'm young, and though this might not seem that cool, it was.
I love playing live, if i couldn't, i would die.
I've played some cool gigs but the one i'll remember was for the seniors last assembly, where we preview our graduation to the whole high school.
I'm not sure, maybe like 1400 people, it was cool.
and theres nothing like playing to people that you know but don't know how far your talent is.
And what was special was that it was a piece i wrote for the senior class, had my friend play.
Now i did a tongue trick where i grab a harmonic with my tongue then slide it along the fretboard. I had trouble at first, feedback took too long, a few giggles came, then i fucked them all up, and it worked. it was amazing. I never did it in front of people at the time.
A great show.

ha, my second one was another one in front of the school at career day smile
People knew me as a dancer and knew i could play guitar, but boy we went up there and did a 15min instrumental jam on james brown's "sex machine", then i did a original.
though my guitar/keyboard sounded like crap, it was a cool gig.

Hi everybody!
WARNING- I babble a lot in this post!

My FAVORITE gig was actually recorded too. On a cheap boombox, it actually got decent sound for what it was. It was back in 99 when my cousin and I were suppose to do a 2 man set for our family. It was his nieces Bday party (errr... being Hispanic, turning 15 is a big event so there were a few hundred people) We were gonna play to generic drum machine beats and then switch off on live drums. The coolest thing happened though. My cousins...I guess you could say cousin in law? Anyway, he used to play with Frank Zappa and he sat in on drums for us. It was GREAT! He hadn't played in years so we joked about that. He did well though. =^)

Anyway, we played about 1 &1/2 hours and got great tips. hehe There are just a lot of little things I remember about that. We really got everybody's attention that night. I jumped back and forth between keys and guitar and did soem crazy solo stuff. I even performed a 10 minute blues medley which included "The Ride". Did some nice soloing on there. I might even upload it for some of you to hear. Been a couple of years since I listened to it. Anyway, that's basically it. I'm too lazy to type any details on it but the only thing that sucked taht night was I broke a string. I just grabbed my back up and I was ready to go again.

It was just so much fun and so laid back. We also got to play all of the song that WE liked and everybody got into it. It was half originals and half covers. Geez, I think I played 4 Prince songs! hehehe Little Red Corvette, Do Me Baby, The Ride and Peach. =^) They had no clue those last 2 were Prince songs. I like to play his more "rare" stuff if I ever play Prince live. Like "Peach","I Like It There", "The Ride", "Purple Rain"..oops... not that one. Anyway, I don't do that anymore. When I play now I generally do originals and I'm not nearly into Prince as I used to be. Long story. so that's it. Take care everybody!

I think mine is yet to come. On January 16, I get to play in front of a group that fired me 2 and half years ago. I am going to bring my Les Paul 1960 classic reiusse and my Strat plus and I'm going to kick ass all night long. Stay tuned...
