I just bought an EMU Vintage Synth at Guitar Center for 399.That was a steal of a deal. Also, the Triton LE is a good buy especially if u need a workstation.

And what you consider decent. I own and play a Hammond, a fender rhodes, a korg triton and a DX7. And there is sometimes nothing like the real thing, baby. But have you considered a good used synth? Just because they update keyboards so much doesn't mean a '92-'00 keyboard won't work for you. That's why I love guitars, the older they are the better. Anyway, do some research. I still like the Korg's M1, O1/W series, Roland's XP-50, 60 and 80 are good too. And if you search the classifieds you might find something good. The Yamaha Motif 6 isn't a bad board either. You might find some of the korg's used for $300-$600. Good luck and keep us posted.

Do you need a sequencer??? Or is it for gigging?? Or do you want a quality board to own??

What I find so funny is that even though me and my musician friends buy these expensive boards, all we seem to play are the Hammond, piano, electric piano (rhodes) or strings sounds. That's why I have the real things. All these keyboards remind me of computers. When you get the most up to date equipment, in a few months its outdated. My Gibson Les Paul 6-string electric guitar won't be outdated for a long time.

I bought a Korg Triton LE a few years ago...Excellent keyboard, great sounds, and now fairly reasonable. What kind of $$ are you looking to spend?? This is important when choosing a keyboard, but you want to get one that is relevant, otherwise it can compromise your overall sound.

Good luck.

The keys player in my band plays a Nord ELectro. It has superb hammond, clavinet, wurlitzer and rhodes sounds and electronic 'draw bars'. No synth tones and only decent piano though.
