My inner Prince I recorded this tonight attempting to be experimental. I was going for medieval music and trying to fuse it with funk. I literally had knights in shining armours and damsels in distress in my head. But I think my inner Prince took over and the result became Royal Shit.

80's Funk Jam 3-- I dig the hand cymbals on this. Groovy piano on this.
I'm lost without vocals or a solo of some kind though. Soul Ballad 2 -- Very groovy and sexy. Love that sax! The strings are beautiful. This song is too short!

Thanks cloud 9 and Vina . That sax solo is actually Branford Marsalis. I "borrowed" it from the Do The Right Thing Original Motion Picture Score. I've always loved it and wanted to incorporate it into something of mine.

You know, I was gonna say it sounded like him. I've never seen the movie otherwise I would have remembered it. That's cool though, it brings the whole thing together to have a solo over the top.

psykosoul said: I present "Crackering"
I did this earlier this afternoon. Just a groove that I couldn't stop playing and adding to. Was trying to think of a title, and my man Otan has been cracking me up all day with whitening and crackering things up. Yes it's repetitive but I was bored and didn't have anything else better to do. I could have cut the yard but I had more fun doing this. Oh DAMN! Hey man, are you a cracker too? This isn't too repetitive, just needs something over the top to pull it all together. I LOVE how you ended it, and the baseline is great. The whole thing just GROOVES. Killer drum programming. It amazes me how many crackers are funky: Funkaholic, Manki, JDODSON... Otan and BigThing are funky too. I'm Mexican, so I don't know where I fit in. I like beans, but my boyfriend is a cracker.

It's all about the honky principle.
Elvis + Mick Jagger + K.C. + Robert Palmer = Honky Fonk. Unfortunately, I also took in too much George Carlin, so the funk comes with a heavy dose of smartass. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Royal Shit kinda reminds me of the opening track to Plantation Lullabies. Nice vibe.
