Anyone know a reasonably priced one? Yamaha DX-7 - wasn't that the one Lisa used to use? Totally 80's sound. Casio CZ101, and the Korg M1. All go pretty cheap on ebay, but remember they're all over 15 years old. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I have a Roland Ax-7 (guitar keyboard), check my avatar pic this keyboards have bigger keys, they're great for solo stuff, easy to use. That was $395.
But i had to get a sound modual that has the sound for $400. a E-mu proteus 1000 30th anniversary. I'm so happy with my buys.

I did some of my first compositions with it. I think JDODSON has a Korg M1 and he gets pretty funky with it.

Oh I didn't know the DX7 is monophonic. no way! but it came out in the 80's - they'd already conquered the multi-timbral thing, hadn't they? I know the other two are multitimbral with midi. I used to have the CZ101. It takes a degree to create new sounds that DONT sound like a vacuum cleaner underwater. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Oh yeah, it wasn't multi-timbral, that's what I meant. It was polyphonic. Anyway, I had the first model and IID was multi-timbral. You could also have upgraded first model but I never got around to doing that. I wasn't too into the sounds. http://www.soundofmusic.s...x7/dx7.htm I still do have my Yamaha FB-01 tone generator. I don't use it now but I did when I first started sequencing. Maybe I'll hook it up again.

Remember back in those days, early 80's
they used all analogue equipment & the digital synth can´t really compare 2 those. They got that fat minneapolis stab sounds using vintage Oberheims & Prophets. Like most anaogue keys, like moog, fender rhodes, clavinet there is a richness that´s genuine. I myself use a Nordh lead 2from Clavia. They try 2 make it sound analogue & it´s a mighty cool keyboard that sounds really good ,but still... if I compare it 2 origiinal vintage keys it´s like comparing a real ovin 2 a microwave if U know what I mean. As 4 keyboard bass sounds.U just can´t get a phatter sound than a Moog. /peace Manki

Yeah, I know, I corrected myself. I meant that it wasn't multi-timbral. I'm a little rusty with the vocab.
