Congratulations on the success guys! What's the score with soundclick...I mean do they recognise the success of tracks in anyway?

I have no clue. I'm watching the numbers - it's #1 in funk, #902 in hiphop. I seriously doubt it will go far in hip hop (and WHY is Hip Hop a main category, and FUNK a sub-category OF hip hop?)

let know if I hear anything.

Soundclick = great tool.

Yep, very cool site!

Sounds good guys. Hey how come FunkyBoy doesn't get any credit up on there ;-?

An old wisdom says "You get what you deserve". pray lol

Seriously, all I did was just provide a nice groove, on which Beau build the actual song. He was the one that came up with the brilliant and ever so catchy "nevergonnaletyoumakemehatemyselfagain" chorus!!!
worship

Hey NOW! I DID put the credit up there!
Click on the Lyrics/Story - it says words/music Beau Hall/Gregory. I don't know his last name! Ain't my fault!!

Sorry man, I thought Red wasn't talking about the actual credits on your Soundclick site, but about the last bits of feedback here on this thread, where some peopled praised the song (you) without mentioning me! Now that I've read it again I see what Red actually meant! Later I also realised the compliments for you could have been for your other songs too! lol

No offense anyway, I hadn't even thought about the credits when I was at your Soundclick site downloading the lastest version of our "baby". I'll give you my full name so you can put down the right name at your site: Geoffrey Tonkens

By the way, I think the mix of your latest version is very good. The only thing is that I'd like the "real" bass to play the exact same bassline as the original "computer" bassline during the "Nevergonnaletyoumakemehatemyselfagain" chorus. Are you willing to try and record that?

I think I want to delete my original bassline during the other parts of the song. Your bassparts are groovy, man! And I think when you play them combined the low ends of the mix gets a little messy, so better delete some.

And I'd like the lead guitar to be just a little bit louder. Then the mix (and the song) would be perfect to me!
There would be no need for me to do another mix in that case.

Beau, I really like the results of this collaboration! Maybe we could do another one some day?

PS: I was busy writing this very long orgnote to you, but my cat jumped on the keyboard and the whole fucking text was lost. Damn animals! Anyway, this reply contains the essence of the original orgnote. I'm tired of typing for now...

WOW!

Okay. One last post and then I'll let this thread die.

THREE DAYS AT NUMBER ONE!

That's a first for me. Sure, some of you out there - JD - you've ridden the charts for awhile, but wow!

Of course, I just checked, and there's a whopping 64 songs in the funk category, so, maybe it's the big fish in a puddle, but still! Whut whut!

We knocked Pink AND Coldplay off the chart! It don't get no better!

Do you have any contacts in radio world, Beau? It would be too cool if this song got some airplay!

Nope. But GROOVEMENT sure do. Boy's been in town two weeks and he's already put folks on the radio left and right. You guys don't know what kind of power he's got.

But before I hand it over to him, I need to wait til I have more to offer than a single demo song. Gotta polish it up this weekend, get it all purty and radio ready. Maybe add a rapper to the intro and some sort of de-tuned 7-string heavy metal vamp while a opera singer sings the chorus. Something to make it more Clear Channel Friendly.

Just kiddn man. It's practically done!

As a future message to all of you, I recommend that you all share your music and refrain from criticism, because you all have great music. There are some songs that we all do that don't catch our ears the way other songs do, and for those, I say that people should keep opinions to theirself, and if any kind of words are spoken, they should be POSITIVE words of encouragement.

I love U

I know, and maybe we shouldn't ask for criticism. I understand that we shouldn't be completely blind and just expect loving motherly comments, but here is the way I have always done it, and the way I will continue to do it:

If I really want to help someone by telling them what they should change about their music or art, I personally call them, mail them, orgnote them, etc, but I never post it publicly. I like saving people from humiliation.

Also, I never post any kind of comments publicly unless they are positive and I actually like the music I listen to.
If it sucks, I either A, haven't listened to it, B, have listened to it, don't like it, and don't care to talk about it, or C, I contact them in private with constructive criticism.

Peace,
JD

My thoughts exactly. Ain't no need to state opinions as facts. Something positive and constructive can be said about every track. If it doesn't move you, then it just doesn't move you. No need to make it a public issue.

Also, there are ways to say the same thing without being degrading. Instead of "Damn, who told you you could sing? Sounds like you're killing a cat!" you can say "Work on your vocals, sounds like you need to support your higher register a little more."

hmm *translates previous comments about my voice* ahhh. pussy lol

Only kidding... I think that pointing out the bad points (in a friendly/constructive manner) is what helps folks improve. As someone who wants to learn new things, I'd prefer being able to listen to someones song, then reading some associated constructive advise...yeah obviously so long as it aint biased in any way. BUT brutal honesty can help the learning process quicker than beating around the bush.

Just follow my book. Fully believe (and state) that your shit IS shit, then all the brutal truths are out the window and the only thing left is the nitty-gritty of where to start with the resurrection lol

Beau, I listened to the song awhile ago, and I really like the drums, the guitar is awesome, and your vocals are the classic Beau, with the "blue eyed blues" voice. I thought it was cool! Very polished top 40 blues/funk.

that's why they call it art. art is subjective. u love it or hate it or be totally indifferent.honesty is the best policy. if u hate a song be honest and say why u hate it.that will help the artist to know how to satisfy YOUR target audience.
